20Things About Me

1.)I’m originally from Minnesota, and have lived in Seattle for 12 years.
2.)I teach 5th grade.
3.)I love dogs. Mine is a 70-pound mutt I nicknamed “Poodle.”
4.)Any stereotypes you may have about elementary school teachers likely don’t apply to me.
5.)Any stereotypes you have about women who love big dogs probably do apply.
6.)I exercise at least six days a week and I eat like a lumberjack.
7.)I live in West Seattle, a 30 minute drive away from work just to be near my sister’s kids.
8.)I suck at following Lego instructions and my nephew gets pissed off when I suggest we ‘freestyle.’
9.)I love karaoke. I won a contest once!
10.) I have a daydream fantasy where I get rich by inventing jewelry that snaps onto kids’ braces. (According to some preliminary research, they’d sell like hotcakes!)
11.) I think hotcakes are delicious.
12.) I have a daydream nightmare (a daymare?) where I lose my millions in lawsuits to parents whose kids choked on orthodontic jewelry.
13.) I watch way more tv than is probably healthy.
14.) I read at least one book a week.
15.) I read People magazine at the gym and I love every minute of it.
16.) I don’t watch sports on television because I think it’s boring and I worry I might slip into a coma.
17.) Exceptions to my no-sports-on-tv rule are gymnastics, ice skating, cheerleading, and dog agility. Only on rare occasions.
18.) Peanut butter is probably my favorite food.
19.) My first teaching job was on the island of Guam.
20.) My hair is the exact color of a golden retriever’s.
