As he was running to catch the bus, a neighbour (silly Sally) asked him for help with planting apple and pear trees in her front yard. He yelled at her and rudely denied the request. He had never seen Sally again in his life and missed the bus anyway.
To his wife, that died a few hours ago, he had given his heart. She put it in a box with a tiny lock that could only be opened with the key laying in the dead Lady's stomach, 57 feet under the ground.
He can see the box every day, sitting on a shelf in his basement. He can feel the beat, but the heart and his spirit have never been together ever again.
