Some of my interests include (in no particular order): Adventure seeking; theory/philosophy (my major); monkey business (my minor); bike riding/rollerblading through parks and streets--day or night; the surreal and absurd (in life and art); music/film (see below); long walks on the...(don't worry; I'm not going there); learning (and teaching) new words, concepts and skills; paradoxes; World/American history; roads less traveled; creative use of any environment (give me a stick, rock and water bottle, and I'll invent a game, make art or repair your engine with it); writing ("The 'God' Part of the Brain: A Scientific Interpretation of Human Spirituality" is one title); taking pictures/making digital art; following pop and indie culture; playing tennis/guitar; architecture/interior design/lighting; sensuality/eroticism; sneaking into places; bioluminescence; canoeing/kayaking; etymology; chess/board games; swinging from chandeliers (just checking to see if you're still with me); random treks by bike, foot or car…or hovercraft, if you happen to have one; stoop sales/flea markets/antique shops; documentaries; order; chocolate; chaos; carpentry/repairing stuff (if it's broke, I'll fix it); black licorice, strong coffee, tequila, grass....a fairly healthy lifestyle but mixed with junk food indulgences.
Film: Cuckoo's Nest, Goodfellas, All That Jazz, The Matrix, Amelie, Little Children, The Usual Suspects, Adaptation, Bullets Over Broadway, Rushmore, Sideways, Apocalypse Now, Sunset Boulevard, Ed Wood, Happiness, Godfather I & II, The Incredibles, American Hustle, Shawshank Redemption, Eternal Sunshine, Fight Club, Election, It's a Wonderful Life, A Serious Man, Crimes & Misdemeanors (own about 300 films/tv series/documentaries...I'm a sucker for good writing.)
TV: Six Feet Under, The Wire, Breaking Bad, True Detective (season 1), Fargo (the FX show), Masters of Sex, House of Cards, Sopranos, Lost, 30 Rock, The Office, Portlandia, Futurama...and if you haven't seen it, for God's sake, watch HBO's "Olive Kitteredge."
Books: Dostoyevsky (Notes from the Underground), Lewis Carroll (Alice, of course), Shakespeare (Hamlet), Tom Wolfe (Electric Cool Aid, Bonfire), Isaac Bashevis Singer (The Spinoza of Market Street); Pagels (The Cosmic Code), Bukowski (Ham on Rye); Italo Calvino (Cosmicomics); Palahniuk (Lullaby), Adams (Hitchhiker's Guide), Asimov (The Foundation), Irving Stone (The Agony and the Ecstasy)....And though I love a great novel (or play), truth be told, I read more non-fiction than anything i.e., world history, science, theory/philosophy, art history, biographies.
