UPDATE: I've currently met someone that I'm trying the "exclusive dating" thing with....I'm leaving my profile on here (friends only are always welcome) to take the tests and have harmless fun.....

Intelligent but dorky, smartass but cute and lovable, laidback but passionate and dominant, charming but bewildering....the dichotomy goes on...

Widowed for a while now (ask any questions you'd like - I had an awesome 11 year marriage to a princess), my kids and I have rebuilt our family and routine and now I'm venturing out into the dating world.

Background ~ I grew up overseas and have set foot upon all but the coldest continent (yes, think about it) at some point in my life. I have an appreciation not only for all cultures, but also for the zany and the wierd people in this world because they're the most refreshing thing of all in this world of conformity and apathy ~ I'm not saying that I'll date such an individual, but I'd hang on tightly to them as fun friends, lol.

What am I looking for? Yuck...I have canned verbage that I could throw in here but the words "dynamic" and "fun" should be a good place to start.

I'm a network geek with enough social graces to be let out of the dungeon at work; a fun dad who regresses to the age of 12 to play wii with my kids; an animal lover that rescued two chocolate labs; finding zen while working in the garden....

I pride myself at wordsmithing ~ I've been accused of taking a penny's worth of wit and turning it into a pound's worth of "BS." I've also got a lot of world experience under my belt ~ I wouldn't call it wisdom, but learned lessons of all facets of life.

I'm also an empath ~ the Intuitive part of my INTP personality is very strong and I have an uncanny ability to sense what's on people's minds and ask the right questions

Books: mostly sci-fi/fantasy stuff or geek technical manuals for work (sad, I know)

Music: all over the place but anything hard and rocking, my tastes generally favor music a little "young" for my age ~ I'm an audiophile and my iPod hates me for it.

I love people watching in any social setting ~ from homecomings in airport lobbies to intoxicated hook-up attempts in smokey bars. I find it extremely entertaining to watch body-language/non-verbal cues as well as listening to what people say (and do).

One thing I'm really starting to think about is OKCupid's giving me a "More Cocky" award ~ this is so opposite to my personality that I'm now wondering how I've been answering the questions on Match Me. It's only been recently that I've figured out how to be more assertive and less wishy-washy ~ women love men that make decisions, so if that's cocky, I guess I'm guilty as charged.

You'd like to talk to a well-meaning, sometimes smartass guy, whose heart is open, and intellect sufficient to carry on a conversation on nearly any topic. I don't think I'll find love on here - but I know that I can find friends and fun, which is a prerequisite to finding love anyways (IMHO).

Please note: the invitation to chat is open if you subscribe to the polyamorous lifestyle but we'll have to be just good friends. While I'm so totally NOT old-fashioned and have friends who are poly, after having an awesome 15 year monogamous relationship, I find it difficult to perceive having a true emotionally and physically sustaining relationship with more than one person. You are more than welcome to try and change my mind - debate and conversation is very healthy and we might just learn something from each other :)

Also, there's a 99% chance that I won't respond to any profile that doesn't have a picture associated with it. Whether you're here for friends or more, there should be no need to hide yourself unless you're hiding something or from someone (read: infidelity). I've been emotionally burned before by a woman who said she was "in the public eye" a lot and didn't want people to know she was dating, when in fact, "in public" she was married....that hurt and I don't want to have any repeat performances.
