Two years ago I graduated from LSU and moved to Durham. And here I am.

Right now I'm teaching and it is a lot of fun. Something cracks me up every day and in a way I get paid to play. One day I will do something that uses my anthropology degree beyond explaining sexual dimorphism and weird cultural practices to five year olds. Maybe I will go to graduate school.

I have a canoe. I take it out sometimes but not as often as I should. I take my dog out for long hikes, camp, swim, paint and draw occasionally. I love random road trips. I've been toying with the idea of writing a children's book. I'm into photography but need a better digital camera. (Film developent is expensive without one's own darkroom.) I was rock climbing a lot when the weather was cooler. I've been known to take jokes too far.

-Listening. I've gotten better about not giving my opinion when it isn't asked for.
-Making people laugh.
-Art.
-Finding solutions to various problems
-Making friends
-Telling time by the sun

-My height. I'm pushing 6ft, although I apparently don't look it because of my build. I've been told that I carry it gracefully which I guess means I don't slam through things like a drunken bear.
-My smile. It's big I guess.
-After that, I hope they are noticing what I am saying to them.

Books: (As far as fiction goes:) Life of Pi, Murakami, What is the What, Kite Runner, Lord of the Flies, 1984, The Horned Man, Rushdie.... Basically I like reading a lot and read for at least an hour every day. I like books that make me think. Suggestions?

Movies: I got Netflix a few months ago and it is becoming an addiction. What kind of movie I watch depends on my mood. I don't think I have odd tastes in movies, but I recently let someone borrow Borat and Meet the Feebles and he thinks I am weird now. As for TV shows go, I only really care about Lost. I care about Lost too much, but I think anyone who watches it feels the same.

Music: I go through phases. My most recent phases gravitated around Tom Waits, George Clinton, Mr. Bungle, Dr. Octagon and Bob Dylan. Sometimes I chill out to some classical music. I get that from my dad.

I would die without: water, food and shelter. On top of that, I think my life would suck without:
-chocolate (dark)
-coffee
-snuggles
-my computer
-my dog
-my friends and family

-Human evolution (seriously.)
-Black holes

Cooking and eating are the typical parts. I try to find someone to take my canoe out with me or swim. Sometimes I am more successful than others.
Lately I've been driving back home to DC a lot.
