I am tall, brainy, and adventurous.

My Self-Summary

I've lived in Saskatchewan, Macau, North Carolina, and various parts of Ontario. Worked in high tech, education, farmwork, (lefty) politics, and design. Fortunate enough to have spent most of my adult life working for organizations whose values I share.

Politically speaking, I'm opposed to authority, borders, discrimination+oppression, and capitalism. I believe in sincerity, communication, commitment, and compassion.

My favourite forms of humour are sarcasm, puns, physical, and non-dairy dijon-flavoured mayonnaise.

By which I mean non-sequitur.

What I’m doing with my life

In the home stretch of a 2-year college program in Digital Media. Most of my college peers are 19-21 and live at home, so I joined this site to facilitate hanging out with people possessing a greater degree of maturity, independence, and life experience than what I typically encounter during the day.

That's been quite successful; I've been able to explore a couple of fun, casual, responsible and non-exclusive relationships. I find it both easy and wonderful and at times difficult. I'd like to continue pursuing intimate/physical/romantic relationships in this vein right now.

I'm not entirely closed to the possibility of things developing into something more serious or exclusive in the (very) long term – but for now, while I focus on some life and career changes, I'm keeping things sane and simple and staying out of any kind of long-term partnership.

School and family commitments are presently whupping my ass, which is a bit of a damper on date-time. I also freelance, play capoeira, and putter.

I’m really good at

Cooking homey Chinese dishes. Taking photos. Writing and editing. Origami. Listening. Hugs. Telling Arial apart from Helvetica. Sleeping. Trying new things. Deadpanning unreasonable amounts of sass.

I have a math degree, but it's at the back of my closet with all the textbooks and bad memories.

The first things people usually notice about me

Just guessing, but I'd say my height and transparent facial expressions.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I do most of my reading online these days, though I recently enjoyed a book called "Creative Code" by John Maeda from the MIT Media Lab. I used to read more fiction... where'd the time go? :(

Last.fm says I've been listening to a lot of this in the last 3 months: Zero 7, Thao with the Get Down Stay Down, Mos Def, Koushik, KRS-One & Buckshot, The xx, Great Lake Swimmers, ESG, and Thunderheist.

All-time favourites include Radiohead, Mos Def, and Four Tet.

I like a pretty broad range of food. I'm most familiar with Chinese, Mexican, and standard Canadian fare, but I love most all flavours: from roti, doubles, and buss-up-shut to injera and lentils to spicy salmon roll to tandoori. Probably easier to list dislikes: taro/eddo, blood pudding, liver, and goat-based products.

Recently I was put on a no-wheat diet to combat the eczema I've struggled with my entire life. It's a pain in the ass and kind of confusing, so while I have been consuming a lot of spelt, kamut and rye, I also sometimes I sneak a bit of wheat down the ol' G-I tract. Damn you, cornbread.

I don't watch movies as much as I'd like, but I'm trying to do so more, since I assisted with a short film this summer that scored me a spot on IMDB and am currently taking a film course. It's hard to set aside 2 hours! Generally, though, I'm more concerned with ideas and content than plot or style.

The six things I could never do without

I like to think I can live as simply as conditions require, so my immediate answers are: food, shelter, clothing, fire, water, and company.

However, the non-basic needs-type essentials to a day in my life include:

* Snacks (I get hungry quickly!)
* Music
* Internet
* Coffee
* Cellphone

I spend a lot of time thinking about

People. Shapes. How things work. How things interact.

On a typical Friday night I am

Not being typical.

However, in theory I like this plan: "Fridays are a good day to sit in the corner or a bar and think about what you've done."

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Privacy? Like, secrets and truths and stuff? But I thought this was a site to mislead people into thinking you're breeding material. There'll be none of that here.

OK, I'll let you in on one thing: I have a thing for slab serifs.

You should message me if

You nodded, and maybe smiled, at least once while reading this.

Oh, if you have a thing for Asian dudes, thank you for stating so up front. I'm probably not going to interact with you too much, though... It's a long explanation, and if I have to explain it to you, I suspect we're probably just going to waste a lot of each other's time and find out we're not compatible anyway.
