My self-summary
Smart alek with an inclination towards tinkering; Computers - Cars - Motorcycles - Brains - The status quo. You may find me walking down the street, pretending I'm a tough guy... but underneath it all, I'm a soft, cuddly bunny wabbit. Well, 'cept for the long ears, the fluffy tail and that whole "soft" part.

Hm.

On second thought, maybe that's a bad analogy.

I am attracted to the obtuse, the extraordinary, and the things that make everyone else scratch their head and type "#OMGWTFBBQ" into their Twitter accounts. I've lived a unique, blessed, roller coaster of a life up to this point and I'm looking to share the ride.

Originally from the East Coast, I've lived primarily in Bay Area for most of my life. I moved to New York about three years ago, but realized after a couple of years that San Francisco is truly my home. Most of my family is in NYC—and it's my second favorite city—so I try to visit as often as possible.
What I’m doing with my life
I work in the tech industry as a web programmer and designer. I've worked in computers most of my life, but I've also been fortunate to get my hands dirty in a lot of different areas, which keeps my ADD-driven brain happy. In the past, if I found something that piqued my interest, I just go out and do it. I've been a biotech researcher, a cook for a Michelin-rated restaurant, a video game programmer, a zoo curator, a bouncer, and a roadie for punk/metal bands. I've definitely found my niche with web hacking, though. Due to the fact that the Internet is constantly evolving, there's always something new to learn, so the ADD monster is kept at bay!

As far as the non-work stuff goes, I'm a passionate motorcyclist and I'm hoping to find fellow motorcycle riders on here, not just passengers (although, that'd be just dandy.) Auto racing & mechanics, scrabbling, kick-boxing and reptile-cuddling also come to mind.

I'm also a big fan of doing things instead of watching things.
Couch-jockeys, World of Dorkcraft and Internet junkies, move along, this is not the profile you are looking for. (Don't get me wrong, I love a good 20-hour session on the Playstation, but all things in moderation, ya know?)
I’m really good at
Finding needles in haystacks. Untying knots. Getting that parking space right out front. Making you laugh. Kissing. Scrabble. Racing cars across the continental US. Voice overs. Fixing stuff that's done been brokededed. Crossword puzzles & Sudoku. Muay Thai. Throwing together contest-winning Halloween costumes at the last minute. Meeting my parole officer on time. (KIDDING!
I'm always late.)
The first things people usually notice about me
...that I'm lurking on their fire escape at 3am wearing nothing but a bullwhip and a mankini.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
This is an ever-evolving list, but here goes:

Books: I lean towards fiction, sci-fi, crime, and the classics, but I definitely don't restrict myself to these genres. Coetzee's Disgrace, Max Brooks' World War Z, N. Stephenson's Snowcrash, The Little Prince, Eats, Shoots & Leaves, Douglas Adams, Orwell, London, Poe, Kafka, Hunter S. Thompson, Tom Stoppard, Shakespeare, Sendak, Shel Silverstein, Wilde, Wells, H.P. Lovecraft and much more now that I have a kindle account.
Currently reading: The Science of Evil by Simon Baron-Cohen
Just finished: REAMDE by Neal Stephenson (Two thumbs up!)

Movies: The Princess Bride, The Host (Korea), Let the Right One In, Battle Royale, the original Dragon Tattoo series, Young Frankenstein, Snatch, Everything is Illuminated, Dr Strangelove, Tucker & Dale vs Evil, Seven Samurai, Leon the Professional, Fight Club, Army of Darkness, Shaun of the Dead, Coen Bros, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Shoot 'em Up, Hot Fuzz, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Good The Bad & The Ugly, Cabin in the Woods, Time Bandits, Godzilla movies, Zombieland, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along-Blog, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, Anchorman, The Jerk. I'm a movie fiend!

TV: My television and I broke up a long time ago.
Lately, my monitor == TV.
That said, some of my all time favorites from Netflix/BBC TV are The IT Crowd, Life on Mars (UK version), The Mighty Boosh, Dexter, Big Bang Theory, True Blood, Firefly, Walking Dead, and Game of Thrones.
I'm also a huge MotoGP fan.

Music: From Bach to Beastie Boys my musical tastes are fairly boundless. I listen to Hip Hop, Classical, Opera, classic Country, Metal, Big Band, Hardcore Punk, Showtunes (yep, I said it,) Blues, Funk, and more.
Some favorites: Tom Waits, Mindless Self Indulgence, John Lee Hooker, Misfits, Prodigy, Pixies, Red Fang, Gilbert & Sullivan, Black Flag, Fear Factory, Run DMC, Clutch, J.G. Thirlwell, Sondheim, Motorhead, Daft Punk, Iggy Pop & The Stooges, Slayer, Die Antwoord, and anything else ya got.

Food: I love to try new things, but I have a special place in my heart for Italian, Thai, Mexican, and Indian food. I was once a big fan of sushi, until I was made aware of the dire state of the global tuna population. (I apologize in advance for ruining sushi for my fellow foodies out there, but I feel that it's important enough to make you informed sushi-consumers.)

The six things I could never do without
1. A sharp, fibrox-handled, 8" Victorinox (RIP Forschner!)
2. A motorized mode of transport. (Ideally, one where the wind is hitting my face.)
3. C8-H10-N4-O2 (What the...?)
4. A tasty, undiscovered, city restaurant
5. A good set of box-end wrenches
6. Good Pizza!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Whether or not Spirit and Opportunity are lonely out there after all this time. (Update: Well, I suppose not so much, now that Curiosity is up there to keep them company.)

How some people can get so worked up about Internet-based acronyms and emoticons. Taken from a grammar-snob's perspective, I totally get it, but seriously? Life is too short to stress out over something that has become so commonplace.

The four stages of competence, and how I seem to be mastering "conscious incompetence."
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
My safe word is "ICANHASCHEEZBURGER"

(In retrospect, I really should have chosen a safe word with fewer syllables.)
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 35–49
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
• Guys that kill zombies turn you on.†
• You've got gumption.
• You can tell me what the hell gumption means.‡
• You can correct the multitude of punctuation, spelling & grammatical errors in my profile. Seriously. My 5th grade English teacher, is turning; in, her grave.

† Well, I haven't actually killed any yet...I'm working on that part.

‡ I think it may have something to do with grilled cheese sandwiches or those wind-up clapping monkeys, but I'm not sure.
