Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Education and learning have a strong grip on me. Whether formal or
informal, continued effort to expand the mind prevents emotional
stagnation and spiritual decay.
I strive to glean a wide diversity of perspectives and pearls of
wisdom from as many sources as possible, and then try to use these
as a meaningful application to my life.
On the nerdy side of my spectrum, I like to see what history and
ancient thought can be carried into the present day. When it comes
to living a righteous life, Aristotle explains that "virtue means
doing the right thing, in relation to the right person, at the
right time, to the right extent, in the right manner, and for the
right purpose." Although he's referencing charity, I think that
this view on virtue can be superimposed on any aspect of
interactions between people.
John Lennon wrote about the base motivating forces in life as being
fear and love, and "when we are afraid, we pull back from life.
When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with
passion, excitement, and acceptance... Evolution and all hopes for
a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of
people who embrace life." Life's journey has many highs and lows,
spread across an uncertain terrain. A traveling companion that has

What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
By day I spend my time running around an oncology clinic and
research institute, and by night (and on the weekends) I like to
play music, dance, explore something new, have an adventure, and
quite possibly raise hell. I also teach music to kids. My
aspirations in life are to make as many meaningful connections to
others as possible.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Making small talk, having substantive conversations, and generally
reassuring people that they matter and that they matter to me. In
spite of my sarcasm and (at times) cynical outlook on the current
state of affairs, I genuinely like and care about people.

I like my Economist, New Yorker, Nat Geo, and Smithsonian
magazines. With regards to books, I like anything that forces me to
contemplate different life situations and reality.
For TV and movie viewing choices, I enjoy satire, farce, and
basically anything that can make me laugh. Most genres are fine,
but if I'm going to watch action/adventure or horror then I want
someone next to me so I don't jump out of my skin.
