like someone who can make me think, but I love someone who can make me laugh.
I'm an atheist, but that doesn't define me. I respect people
who respect other people, and I enjoy a good debate.
I have a beautiful wife and a wonderful daughter who are the light
of my world.
I have been happily married to flirtymartini for 10 years and am in what most would call an open relationship. We practice ethical non-monogamy, which means if we meet someone (through work, friends, OKC, whatever) and we dig them, we're free to pursue the relationship in whatever way it evolves naturally. Sometimes that's romantic, sometimes it's sexual. Usually it's both. Sometimes it's strictly platonic, though neither one of us are on here *just* to make friends.
When I am not busy geeking out at work I enjoy drinking, cooking and eating (in that chronological order). I love feeding people and on most any night I'd prefer to be surrounded by good friends enjoying full bellies and a good drink or three. I am very conscientious about the source of my food and try to eat locally whenever I can. I'm realistic though; you can't always eat local.
Lately I have gotten into vegetable gardening and enjoy growing my own food. There is something very cool about taking something from the seed to the plate. While I have a somewhat small back yard, I make the best of it. I know I'm lucky to have what I do.
I enjoy photography (a lot) and am always looking for things to shoot. I probably drive people crazy stopping every two minutes to take a photo of some seemingly-inane object, but most people indulge me. If you're the type to do this, let's go get lost somewhere. I particularly love shooting at Disney, as everything there tends to be so damn photogenic (I bet they did that on purpose).
I enjoy going out and in the past have really enjoyed seeing live music, but I've kind of lost touch with the scene. I'd love someone to help me discover new bands and venues around here. If any of the music I list below makes you think "hey, you should check out this band" then please drop me a line (whether you want to date or not). These days I hang out at Brass Tap a lot, though by prior haunt was Stubbies. I can't wait for World of Beer to open. I also enjoy staying in and cuddling up on the couch for a movie or some TV on a weeknight.
I also enjoy hiking and kayaking, though I am pretty slow at both and can't do extremely long distances.
I love music, and I play the drums (pretty badly).
I have a beard, does that count?
Dan Brown, most crime novels and historic thrillers, recent Stephen King. Not very deep stuff :) I also love reading non-fiction.
I really enjoyed The Ethical Slut but found Sex at Dawn to be pretty boring.
Movies: Inception and most all Christopher Nolan films (especially the Dark Knight series), anything Pixar (I sometimes cry at the end of Cars), Food Inc. and Forks Over Knives, both of which made me a better human being. Favorite bad movie is Captain Ron. I enjoyed all of the Harry Potter movies just as much as the books (no, I don't care that they were different), Tarantino, especially Inglorious Basterds, Pulp Fiction and Django (I have never seen the Kill Bill movies and welcome the opportunity to rectify this). 007 (Daniel Craig is the best).
Shows: For silly stuff I like Family Guy, Futurama and as-of-late, Archer. I've been watching a lot of BBC America lately and have been a Top Gear fan for years. For cooking shows I enjoy Good Eats, Molto Mario and No Reservations. I really love documentaries and can more or less leave the TV locked on The Science Channel all damn day. Reality TV makes me lose hope for humanity. I avoid it at all costs.
Music: I like a lot of stuff. I'm currently have the following bands in heavy rotation:
Mumford and Sons
(New) Linkin Park
Of Monsters and Men
(a little) Coldplay
The Black Keys
Beastie Boys (I miss MCA)
Shout Out Louds
Jimmy Eat World
Matt & Kimm
I'm an omnivore but I love vegetarian and vegan food every bit as much as a good steak. I eat a lot more plants than critters.
- Good food
- Good drink
- Good friends
- Good times
- Good music
- My wife and daughter
friends, with the possibility of 'benefits'.
Sex, or the potential of sex, is NOT a pre-requisite of getting to
know me though :)
If you think you can beat me at Mario Kart.
If we have things in common, or if you just think you'd like to get to know me, and my being polyamorous is a plus (or at least not a minus).
If you think I am interesting.
