My self-summary
"Life is made of small moments like these" -- Above & Beyond

I am a(n):
- little piece of Minnesota nice in the Big Apple. I came here for medical school and fell in love with the city so much I want to make it my "forever home".

- avid athlete. Captained my ultimate frisbee team in college and have since taken up running as my preferred way of breakin' a sweat

- big football (aka handegg) fan. From September to January I spend every Sunday cheering my heart out for the Packers. Go Pack Go!!

- helpless egg. Or, as one friend put it, I'm "not white, but Super Saiyan Asian."

- aspiring polyglot, working on 한국어 for the time being (see above)
What I’m doing with my life
Mid-way through my orthopedic surgery residency. I play hard and, unfortunately, work harder

A quick acknowledgement of my friends from back home: Dithilli, Terpsichoreus, and Gyst. Also, the lovely Smile4Me2011. Most are farther away than I'd like. T_T If you happen to be in their area, you should get to know them; they're fantastic people
I’m really good at
Building additional pylons ;P
The first things people usually notice about me
Blonde hair, an easy smile, and nearly endless optimism
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music: I was introduced to the wonderful world of EDM in February 2012. No music has ever made me feel the way it has: everything from weightless euphoria to streaming tears. I generally stick to progressive trance, but venture into any genre as long as it's skillfully done. Favorite acts include: Above & Beyond, Audien, deadmau5, ilan Bluestone, Madeon, Myon & Shane54, Porter Robinson and Seven Lions.

Food: one of my favorite pastimes is sharing a meal and a bottle of wine. I'll try pretty much everything but my favorite cuisines are: French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese. Bubble tea is my weakness.

Shows: I don't watch much TV--I don't even own one--but I have a soft spot for anything written by Aaron Sorkin or narrated by David Attenborough. Also, comedic or action-filled k-dramas (City Hunter!!)

Books: grew up reading lots of fantasy (Tolkien, Tamora Pierce) and classics (Jane Austen, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, etc) but these days I'm much more into history, science, social/cultural (Malcolm Gladwell, Bill Bryson), and pretty much everything nonfiction in the New Yorker.
The six things I could never do without
a good subwoofer, my passport, running, sunshine, tea
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Operative indications (it's a work thing)

How to improve. Of late, I've been placing emphasis on mindfulness, and somewhat old-fashioned social graces like hand-written thank you notes.

Also, all the non-medical books I want to read but don't have time to
On a typical Friday night I am
Assuming I'm not on call? Singing at a noraebang in k-town, out dancing at an EDM show, or snuggling at home with my teddy bear and a k-drama.
You should message me if
-you love EDM
-you're a fellow orthopod; I'm always looking to meet others in the profession. Especially girls!
-you're an attractive Asian man, especially Korean
-you wrote comments in response to the standard okcupid questions; I enjoy a good session of banter

You should NOT message me if:
-you are only going to use one word or emoticon/emoji. 0% chance of response. Unless you're Taylor Swift, in which case: "Hi! :3 Wow, it's great to hear from you!" (see? I still used a FULL SENTENCE...)
-we're less than 50% match (we probably shouldn't)
-you're going to be butthurt if I don't respond
-couples looking for a third
