I am a treasure hunter at heart. I never pass a yard sale without having a quick look. Much of my "stuff" is older than me, beautiful and perfectly functional. I salvage things- often with no idea of what I might do with them but I just hate to see useful become landfill. I also love dollar stores and industrial supply catalogues. Buying things "by the gross" satisfies me in ways I can't explain.
Four years ago I started woodworking (much to my own surprise) and it has turned into a fairly serious hobby. Sanding and cutting and polishing is almost meditative and good for core strengthening. It's like yoga but with more sawdust. Maybe I can make you a nice spice rack?
I ride my bike year round but I am happy to rent a car for the weekend to get out of town. I have been everywhere but Antarctica. I love wide open spaces the most, deserts, plateaus, plains, prairies, veldts, coastlines and mountains. Not so big on jungles, caves or endless tracts of featureless "bush" and muskeg.
