My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I am Epicurean, eclectic, and a frugal hedonist - and I'm willing to lie about how we met. I'm sure we can come up with a good one. . . We were walking through a park and ran into one-another while admiring spring flowers. . . or maybe it was at a wine tasting. . . or waiting in line at the bookstore? ;-)

This is a difficult thing. Do we ever really see ourselves as others do? (and can we actually fit a whole person in these little boxes?)
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I work as an IT Manager for a non-profit publisher on the campus of a major university. I feel that I contribute to society in a positive way through my work, and I am proud of that.

I bought an old house a few years ago and now I spend my free time getting it to match the picture in my head. I have insulated the basement and attic, painted the kitchen, rewired, fixed leaky pipes. . . and I put the finishing touches on the new roof this fall! (much better) The joys of an old house!

I am looking forward to insulating the "sleeping" porch as part of its' eventual transformation to my bedroom (it'll need to have heat first. . .). I can picture a wood burner and a comfy chair in one corner - a cup of tea and a good book (nirvana). I may drag the bed out there for the summer. . .

I just completed a major project to help keep the basement dry. This involved a jackhammer, sump pits, two large pumps, some plumbing and wiring. I was happily vindicated today when not a drop made it past my French drain. . .

It is the weekend before the 4th of July, so I'm on my way out the door to buy a truly outrageous amount of explosives with my brother - we put on a hell of a show. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that I was on some kind of watch list. . .

I'm restoring and updating a 90 year old pipe organ. Currently I have 3 ranks, glockenspiel, chimes, and some percussion working. There are 5 more of ranks pipes to be restored - it's a long-haul kind of project. . . This morning's concert included "Delilah" by Tom Jones.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm an excellent cook. As proof, I offer the fact that I won 4 shot glasses at the company pot-luck today for "yummiest dish" with my Caribbean pumpkin soup.

I'm a voracious reader. There is very little that I will not read for entertainment or simply curiosity. Like everyone else, I am anxiously awaiting the next George R.R. Martin book. Terry Pratchett was my soul mate and I'm about to finish his Diskworld series for the umpteenth time.

As for music, I've been listening to this on repeat nearly all day:

There is a great build-up to the moment at about 1:25 in, that may just be a perfect musical moment. I think this is the same reason I love Bach - his music builds toward a cathartic resolution.

Or am I just supposed to list pop-stuff here?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Lately I have developed strong opinions on natural vs. synthetic materials as used in the construction of pipe organs.

Also, to whom did I lend my three copies (2 paperback and 1 hardcover) of "Jurassic Park" by Michael Chrichton? I'd like to re-read it one of these days. . .
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I hate the new

I am Facebook friends with Swedish two time Olympic gold medal curler Anette Norberg.

Also, I judge people based on their photo captions.
"This is a picture of me" + "This is a picture of my dog" =
"This is a picture of me and my dog"

Why is this so hard for some folks? "My dog and I" makes me think they somehow managed to skip English class for 12 years. . .

I was kind of disappointed at the voting booth this morning to realize that I don't have anyone I want to vote for, but there were several people I wanted to vote against. . .
