My self-summary
I'm a musician, and lover of exploration, beauty, art, nature, and good food. Grew up in cities but I'm happiest in high mountains or over open water. I'm originally from Michigan but left as soon as I could for Colorado, then Switzerland, California, back to Switzerland, Arizona, Turkey, and I just moved to Amherst. I love being on the move, whether it is on a run out the door or a road trip through Anatolia. For me, nothing compares to the inspiration and perspective gained from experiencing foreign cultures, foods, and landscapes. That said, I feel most at home in the Rockies so I make sure to visit every summer.
What I’m doing with my life
Mostly biology and music, with some occasional outreach & international volunteer work.
I’m really good at
Hiking downhill quickly, learning music by ear, forgetting things in the oven, learning languages, making soup, pullups, finding my way.
The first things people usually notice about me
I laugh a lot, I am super curious about everything, and it's hard to get me to sit still.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
In case you can't tell, I'm a big fan of sushi (NOT $20 all you can eat; in fact I'd be fine leaving out the rice), but Ill eat pretty much anything except bananas. I think my mom must have fed me too many and apparently I grew a vehement hatred as early as by age 4. When my sister wanted to torture me she would chase me around, holding a banana. I am pretty confident this had no lasting psychological impact (except here I am, writing about it...)

I dont own a tv and pretty much the only things I watch regularly are the Daily Show, Colbert Report, Frontline, and Simpsons. I spent most of my freetime over the last year reading Turkish grammar books (maybe I should put that in the "Most private thing" section?) so I desperately need to catch up with HBO/BBC/etc. series (I'm currently deciding whether I should start the wire, the hour, downtin, or lost - any thoughts?)

Music: Darrel Scott, Bela Fleck, Gregory Allen Isakov, Citizen Cope, TuPac, more recent Hip Hop if I'm in the right mood, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Gary Peacock, Wilco, Sublime, Ray LaMontagne, DeadMau5, Cults, Antibalas, any classical, Middle Eastern/Armenian folk music, Thievery corporation, and I'm super open minded and love hearing things I'm not used to/currently obsessed with
The six things I could never do without
My instruments, laughter, sharp knives, family, new adventures, vegetables
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to give back, where to go next, what I'm going to make for dinner, how long it's been since I called my grandma
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends, at a concert, cooking way too much food for the number of people that will eat it, or if there's a fullish moon out hiking with my fabulous dog.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Sometimes I wait until I'm the last person getting on a plane and I take the best empty seat!
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 25–40
  • Near me
  • For new friends
You should message me if
You won't chase me with a banana, you would rather travel to the Falkland Islands than Aruba, you like science, you like dogs, you'd rather eat uni than unagi, you like sleeping outside.
