Engineer. Teacher. International wanderer.
Spent most of my life in the Midwest, but lived in a few other states and abroad. I left my job in biotech to teach hs math for four years, but now I'm back. Recently relocated to Brooklyn for a new job at my old company. I have loved living in many places but I'm ready to settle down for a while and really discover what my neighborhood, and NYC, has to offer.
What I’m doing with my life
Scouring the world looking for my future B&B. Spending time outside of work enjoying numerous hobbies including baking, sewing, biking, and skiing. Each Christmas I challenge myself to bake more cookies than the last!
I’m really good at
Reading maps and finding my way around new places! Experiencing new things, unless it involves extreme heights! Molding minds, young and old :) Keeping a very close eye on my sweet puppy, who has an unfortunate tendency to swallow foreign objects, like needles.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books- To Kill a Mockingbird, Pillars of the Earth, all of Nicholas Sparks' fairly mindless, romantic indulgences
Movies- Newsies, Across the Universe, Life as a House
Music- Vampire Weekend, The Courteneers, Ben Folds, The National ...
The six things I could never do without
- cheap airline tickets
- Rick Steves' self-guided walking tours
- Saturday softball games/ski adventures
- a well packed carry-on (no penalties from EasyJet here!)
- some companionship for the journey
- my KitchenAid mixer
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to put together ikea furniture without making a mistake (pretty sure that hasn't happened yet, though everything is still standing!)
On a typical Friday night I am
Arriving back into JFK or LGA from a week's work adventure and meeting up with friends on the way back into the city.
You should message me if
You'd like to be the second person in my 2-man furniture building projects, enjoy eating baked goods, and enjoy a week or weekend away!
