(A friend read my previous version and said, basically, You need to make this sound more like you. So, here goes...)
I'm a successful writer living in Studio City with the world's greatest German Shepherd, Big Barda. I also periodically teach writing in the film department at one of the two local universities.
Whereas I write screenplays and short stories, most of my produced credits are in TV Animation on shows like X-Men, Batman: The Animated Series, The Mask and Disney's Gargoyles. I've been to Comic Con every year since 1991, so if that makes me sound geeky, it's time to move on to the next guy, 'cause it doesn't get any better from here.
I'm a genre guy, meaning I love all things Geek: Comics, Science Fiction Novels, Horror Films. In October I'm going to be a Special Guest at a Transformers Convention in Chicago.
Still here? Great.
Aside from the geeky fanboy stuff, I like bike riding and am currently looking for somebody to ride with. When I lived on the West Side I used to ride from Santa Monica to Redondo Beach, and riding made me feel like a million dollars. The Valley makes for a less scenic ride, but maybe with the right person...
I love Improv Comedy. I have lots of friends who perform all over town, and I like performing myself, although mostly as a student. If you've never done Improv, I highly recommend it! Cheaper than therapy, and unlike therapy your audience doesn't have to worry about keeping a straight face.
I love to travel and would like to do it more. On a beach Bali I've enjoyed fish cooked by the fishermen who caught them, ridden a horse on an active volcano in the Philippines, swum with sharks in Bimini, gone binge play-going in London, and been to the Cannes Film Festival twice.
My university class is called The Craft Of Animation Writing. It's fun watching my students' writing evolve over the course of the semester.
I'm looking to find somebody with a very young spirit, who didn't feel it necessary to leave behind her childlike wonder when it was time to grow up. I'm not going to hit you with the whole Inner Child thing, but I think you know what I'm talking about.
Also, a sense of the absurd is a must. The world is so grim it would be a tragedy to take it all so serious-like.
Oh, I grew up on Long Island. I'm acerbic, and some people mistake my irony for sarcasm; bonus points if you know the difference. Read my addendums to my answers in the Q&A section. If they make you laugh, great. If they don't it's time to mosey along to the next guy...
You got compassion and mirth, let's talk. I'm looking for somebody to share the rest of my life with, and I'm hoping she's kind and caring, and can recognize and appreciate that behind this prickly exterior lies a sincere, genuine, and caring person.
My core belief about relationships is simply this: Who you are with is less important than who you are when you are with them.
If you want to know more, send me a message. I'd love to hear from you, and the world's greatest German Shepherd is looking for somebody new to pester for love and petting.
WARNING: Although I love animals, I am deathly allergic to cats. Yes, even yours, although I grant that it/they is/are the best of all possible cat(s) in the universe. Sorry, I didn't ask for this allergy, and no amount of Benadryl is going to make it go away.
