My self-summary
A bit arty, a bit science-y, not in any way New Age or spiritual. Big on rationality.

Massive introvert. I don't know how much stock I really put into the old Myers-Briggs but I've seen more than a few people post their score so for anyone interested I'm apparently an INFJ. I like this because it contains my initials.

Considerate to the point at which it's detrimental to my own happiness (but that's not a reason not to be).

Dry and quirky taste in humour, wet and functional taste in showers.

Sometimes I wear a coat.

Studied English and Philosophy at uni and occasionally motivate myself to do a bit of writing of my own. Looking to go back to Uni in a few years and do at least a masters.

Like to keep in reasonably good shape but not ridiculously good shape (I FUCKING LOVE CAKE).

I'm looking to meet people in and around Tokyo. I'm interested in both dating and friendships so if you like the sound of me please do say hi.
What I’m doing with my life
Teaching English.
Trying to learn what Japanese I can.
I’m really good at
The floor is lava. If you don't know what that is you were never a child.
The first things people usually notice about me
I have a bit of a lisp. Or my kidneys. I have well FIT kidneys.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Ok so I think I have to deploy the obligatory 'these are just a few and are always changing' disclaimer.

Books:
Infinite Jest - David Foster Wallace
Mrs Dalloway - Virginia Woolf (if her writing was a woman, I'd get with it)
Notes From Underground - Fyodor Dostoevsky (comes close to being perfect)
Never Let Me Go - Kazuo Ishiguro
The Unbearable Lightness of Being - Milan Kundera
Enduring Love - Ian McEwan

Also lots of philosophy and popular science.

Movies:
Oldboy
Amelie
Pi
Kill List
Scarface
Hudsucker Proxy
American History X
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (It's almost like a Romantic Comedy except it's good)

Shows:
Oz, The Sopranos, The Wire, Deadwood (could list most HBO stuff really)
Breaking Bad, Brasseye, South Park, Peep Show, League Of Gentlemen, Armando Iannucci Shows

Music:
Ahhh, probably the hardest one to list, we all want to seem so ecclectic dont we?
Big passion for the more alternative side of hip-hop (eg Aesop Rock, Sage Francis) and the intelligent side of electronic music (yep, lots of bleeps and blips for me).
I like my melancholic folky/indie stuff too (think Sufjan Stevens or The National). Grew up on rock and metal though, so thats in the mix as well.

If you describe your taste in music as 'ohhhh anything with a good beat' then I am a bit annoyed.
The six things I could never do without
Music, Curry, my gran (bless her), adding little asides to every other sentence inside a set of parentheses (see), two more things may be added if and when.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Whether or not wasps get headaches, I really hope they do.

Human rights, feminism, secularism, antitheism, language.
On a typical Friday night I am
I work Friday nights so I will instead interpret this as On a typical night off I am:

Eratically jolting about in a nightclub in a self concious manner or chilling with friends and generally saying very silly things. If I can't be bothered with other people, sitting in my bedroom with the lights off listening to music or sitting in my bedroom with the lights on reading a book.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 19–40
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
You know how to appreciate a comfortable silence (yes, I am an introvert).
You value honesty and intellectual integrity over happiness.
You dislike Jeremy Clarkson.

DON'T MESSAGE ME IF YOU DON'T READ BOOKS.

I'm not into time wasters and unfortunately there seem to be lots on sites like this. Those of you who go 'I respond to every message out of politeness', that's just misleading, why do it? If I message you and you aren't interested just don't message back. Simple.
