About Me
Optimist by nature and practice, believer that attitude IS everything. So I am even grateful to be here on OKCupid! Well, grateful it exists at least. Playful and enthusiastic, personable, easy-going yet passionate about things, Christian, teacher, thoughtful, a talker, at times goofy, honest, confident but hopefully not a ass, curious, quick to laugh especially to ease awkward moments, good communicator including talking about (heaven forbid for a guy) FEELINGS, introspective, imperfect but forgiven, physically active, VERY affectionate, UGA graduate and DAWG fan.

Five Love Languages
Men REALLY need another name for this!! But mine are quality time and physical touch. Geesh..... Does that make me sound like a stalking pervert? Good Grief!

Things I Love and Do
Love playing men and mixed ALTA tennis, golf (Yes, even with women), and softball. Sports including college football, Braves, Falcons and March Madness, starting a dance floor, traveling, the beach, hanging out with a glass of wine or mean margaritas, real wood fires, any couch for two. Laughter in any form, watching my daughters (14 and 16) grow up and discover who they are, learning something new, musical tastes all over the map, live theater (Just bought Season Tickets to Fox Broadway Series), laundry (total lie!!), parks, festivals, “campy” fun things (ex. Grease Sing-a-long at the Fox), singing in the shower or car, singing in your ear.

Things I Promise:
I’ll look like my pictures (actually lost 10lbs since beach pictures), I will act like my parents taught me, I’ll open the door for you, I’ll make you laugh or die trying. Eventually, I’ll say something dumb. If you do the same, I’ll forgive you. If you forgive me, I might flirt a bit.

Things I Hope You Are
Someone funny and fun, easy to know and love, outgoing and outstanding, down to earth and family oriented. Ready for balance…….

Thanks for reading my long profile. The rest is a love story from my parents. It's a relationship that defines me to this day.

I Know What Love Is

It’s a few days before Christmas 2011, the last Christmas season before the death of my Dad that coming Spring. My parents, my two child and I had been running errands for what seemed like days. As we made our rounds I began to
notice something different about my parents. I watched this wonderful couple, both in their 80s, holding hands far more often than I had ever
remembered before. Now, they were always affectionate but not like this, not walking in and out of Wal-Mart affectionate. I was curious and asked, "Mom, what's up with you and Dad holding hands so much these days"? The answer from my Mother came with a simple smile, "Sweetheart, it's for Balance".

Over the years this wonderful couple had leaned on one another for so many mental, emotional and spiritual needs that it made complete sense that the need for physical balance would be fulfilled, not with the cane and walker they both possessed, but rather by leaning on one another. Two halves once again making a whole as they stepped up each curb, one person at a time, using each other for support, traversing each rough patch that their path put before them together as one.

I think most of us seek to find that "one of a kind for us” person whose hand we can hold steady and support as they step up on the curb of life and who we, in turn, will trust to be there for us when we take that leap of faith to join them. But finding that perfect “match” can seem as if we are searching for the "Holy Grail". But that day reminded me that the search is a worthy one. Because I've seen the blueprint, I've seen the vision, I've seen balance.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Professionally, I followed my bliss in 2009 and switched careers after 20 plus years in sales to teaching. I’m a Middle School Social Studies teacher in a Special Education setting. For those of you who just whispered to yourself, "Well Bless His Heart", I know that is just southern slang for "that boy is stupid"!! Perhaps, but I am loving it!

I was fortunate to get my first teaching job at the school my daughters attended, a goal I set for myself to help me stay connected to them. Both have since moved on to High School.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I’m really good at? Being a fierce friend, showing affection, public speaking, putting people at ease, showing up looking like my pictures (I hear this a problem), whispering in your ear, connecting with your folks or your children, seeing the bright side, both loving and being baffled by my two wonderful daughters, arriving at the Halloween party with the costume that everyone talks about, grilling, cheering for my DAWGS, playing tennis for strictly fun or for keeps (note the profile name), frying a turkey, losing my keys. Fellow jurors told me I had great leadership skills after voting me Foreman while I was in the bathroom. (Does that count?)
The first things people usually notice about me

Physically I have no idea, you decide. My positive attitude, friendly nature and courtesy demeanor. Good Grief! That makes me a nice guy!! How awful!!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: I love reading to learn more about something in History that interests me.

Movies: Really anything for action flicks to comedy, drama to period pieces. I don't really go for slasher movies. If I want to frighten myself I'll just look for new gray hairs in the mirror thank you.

Music: I find that in most genres of music I can find something that moves my feet and my spirit.

Food: Anything I did not cook. Anything I grilled.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1-3) The three F's. Family, Faith and Friends
4) Opposable thumbs (?)
5) The ability to laugh at myself and everyday stuff.
6) A purpose
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How to connect with my students both personally and with regards to the subject I teach. My future and those known who will be a part of it and those unknown that I hope will be a part of it.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Hopefully I am out and about or in with friends/others or I am doing something with my daughters.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Thanks Bob, but I think I'll pass and wait for the second showcase.
