I'm an honest man looking for an honest girl. I'm a drummer, and I'm a relatively recent convert to Christianity (Catholic), and I'm a bicycle rider, and I'm a Frisbee tosser, but despite these things I do, they pay me to be an engineer. While I fit a few of the engineer stereotypes (I'll happily eat the same thing for breakfast every day and I tend to approach most problems analytically), I would like to believe that I stray from many others (I'm not particularly introverted, and I don't really like video games.)

I looked at how this website rates my personality, and found it amusing that it thinks I'm less scientific than average. I guess that proves that my answers to these okCupid questions don't define me. I similarly believe they won't define you, so even if we don't completely match according to this site, but you think I'm interesting, contact me!

After graduating from UW-Madison, I followed a job offer to the Quad Cities where I now work as an engineer. When I'm not working, I spend a lot of time reading, drumming, doing things at church, watching football, and cooking.

I'm pretty good at explaining complicated concepts in easy-to-understand terms. I think I would have made a pretty decent professor, but I didn't want to go to school long enough for that. I'm also a pretty good chili chef, but that season has ended. It's grill out time now.

I haven't asked them! I'm somewhat quiet when first meeting people, and tend to take my time before I speak, making sure I say what I want to.

Books: Mere Christianity, A Song for Nagasaki, The Godless Delusion. I read a lot of christian apologetics, probably because, as a former agnostic, I needed them. I also enjoy exciting fiction like Dune, Harry Potter, and some Tom Clancy books.
Movies: Ocean's Eleven, Good Will Hunting, The Blues Brothers
Shows: Football - the only sport I watch, but it never bores me. I also like Scrubs, House, and Law and Order.
Music: Josh Garrels, Needtobreathe, Boston, Audrey Assad, Umphrey's McGee
Food: Indian food, anything with Pesto, BBQ, Mexican food

At the risk of sounding pathetic, I'll admit that I think frequently about when I'm going to find the right match for me. That's why I have this profile. I have married friends who even have children now, and being the "third wheel" with them will make you think about these things.

Otherwise, I often think about free will and its necessary implications; it's kind of philosophical, but I'd love to talk about it with anyone who is interested. It's such a great topic - it makes philosophy not boring.

In recent real-life experience, I had the choice on a Friday night of going to bars with work friends, or helping another friend install a closet door. I picked the closet door. His closet needed a door. He needed help. Really. A nice night around a bonfire is always a good use of a Friday too.
