My self-summary
I recently just turned twenty-four, yet I'm just beginning to get out into the world and figuring out how this grown-up crap works. Little late, I know, but don't just automatically assume I'm still a child, or whatever other smart ass comment you're currently thinking of. This doesn't make you more "mature" than me, just a pompous jackass. Are we clear on that? Good!

I was born and raised in the Bay Area, specifically San Jose. Growing up, I had a relatively happy childhood, but life at school was probably a major contributor to the way I am now -- shy, quiet, with a difficulty opening up to people out of fear that they will berate me. In school, I was "The Weirdo" You know, that kid you would see by themselves on the playground during recess. The kid you *thought* about going over to say "hi" to, but wouldn't because you were afraid of what your friends would say if you said "hi" to "that weird kid sitting by herself" even though there was a petty good chance that she was one of the nicest people you'd ever meet, just a little misunderstood.

Growing up, I loved to draw and color in coloring books. I started drawing when I was five. Granted, I just drew stick figures, but give me a break :) From 7th to 11th grade I was in advanced art classes, but I am largely a self-taught artist.

During my senior year in high school, I was diagnosed with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. Because of it, I decided to drop out of high school and focus on getting myself under control. It was only until I started going to therapy and put on medication in 2005 that I started to see an improvement. I'm happy to say that my OCD is relatively under control. It can never be cured however, only treated.

OK! On to more happy things :)

I LOVE hockey -- and no, just because I live in San Jose does not mean I like the Sharks, so please stop asking "you must be a Sharks fan." I HATE the Sharks. My favorite teams are the Washington Capitals (since 1996) and Anaheim Ducks(since 1995)!

I have a crude sense of humor. I think fart sounds are the greatest laughter-inducing sound EVER! I can pretty much laugh at anything considered Politically Incorrect, and I'm a stout supporter of political incorrectness. For this reason, easily offended males need not apply.

I have a thing for Russian males and the Russian Culture. A few years ago I dated a Russian. I wanted to become closer to him in more than the usual way, so I began researching various aspects of Russian Culture. Needless to say, I've retained and expanded upon the things I've learned.

I'm a bit of a video game geek, and quite proud to be a "girl-gamer". It makes kicking a guy's ass THAT much sweeter :D I'm mostly a platforming, fighting, and action/adventure gamer. Don't care for mindless first person shooters. My favorite franchises are Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Tekken, and the NHL series of games made by EA(when they work properly, that is...), and recently 2K Sports NHL 2K10 (my baby Ovie is on the cover for crying out loud!). Also, I'm ADDICTED to a little PC game known as The Sims 2. Oh, and I will kick your ass at Mario Kart Wii with Koopa Troopa, whom I affectionately call "Koops". It's all about the turtle power, baby!
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to figure out what college class I should take in the fall. And hoping I'm able to even get into my local community college, what with the massive budget cuts the California school system has taken, and the national unemployment rate.

And trying to keep my head above the waters of adulthood.
I’m really good at
Hmm...I wouldn't consider myself "really good" at anything in particular. I'm modest, I know. People have told me I'm a great artist, however. And pretty good at video games. Of course, I don't think so, but am flattered nonetheless. Did I mention I will kick your butt at Mario Kart Wii with Koops? Well, now you know!

I'm also good at remembering facts about Russian NHL players. Again, like anyone cares.

I'm also good at being a smart-ass.
The first things people usually notice about me
I tend to keep a straight face, but when I do smile, people often tell me how pretty it is.

Also, my quiet and gentle nature.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
BOOKS: Currently, I'm reading a fascinating book about hockey goalie masks called, "Saving Face: The Art and History of the Goalie Mask" It's awesome.

Books I'd like to read include Russian classics Crime & Punishment and The Brothers Karamazov, and The Master and The Margarita.

Other than that, I'm not much of a reader. And no, don't just assume that this makes me less intelligent than you.

Movies: Most all of Mel Brooks movies, Caddyshack, Dumb & Dumber, Kinsey, Trainspotting, Velvet Goldmine, Stay, all the Monty Python movies, the first two Terminator movies, Casino, good, classic horror/suspense movies like The Omen, The Exorcist, The Shining, Nightmare on Elm Street and Halloween, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (it's an anime movie, but a fucking masterpiece in its own right), Slap Shot, the Mighty Ducks trilogy, The Lion King, Toy Story, WALL-E, many, many more Disney and Pixar movies.

TV: Scrubs, The Golden Girls, Roseanne, Cheers, Night Court, Home Improvement, Family Matters, Man v. Food, Cops, Da Vinci's Inquest, RENO 911, Cold Case Files, The Three Stooges, Deadliest Catch, Real Time with Bill Maher, Penn & Teller: Bullshit!, Two and a Half Men, various shows on the NHL Network.

My favorite comedians are Lisa Lampanelli (my idol!), Andrew Dice Clay, George Carlin, Richard Pryor.

Music: Classic rock for the most part. Examples include The Who, The Doors, Rolling Stones, Cream, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Fleetwood Mac, AC/DC, Motorhead, Elvis, etc. I like some Russian rock (Marakesh, who are actually a Ukrainian band, and Kino), hip hop (Seryoga) and just recently discovered a great Russian SKA band called Leningrad (thanks Maxim!) as well. Big Band/Swing music is also priceless.

Food: Italian, Traditional American, Mexican(when I'm near a toilet. And no, Taco Bell doesn't count). I also like Chinese food. But, I will be completely blunt, it does not agree with me. I'd like to try Russian food, but my willingness to try new cuisine ends there. I can't tolerate spicy foods, and much less care for them. As far as sweets go, I'm a sucker for chocolate cake and especially love traditional New York style cheesecake.
The six things I could never do without
Family & friends
Purell hand sanitizer
Pencil & paper
Video games
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why I give people my attention and/or trust and instead of appreciating it, they just shit all over me instead.

Also, owning a Siberian Husky or Shetland Sheepdog puppy.
On a typical Friday night I am
Inside my house. Yeah, don't have many friends so I don't go out much; don't go to bars or clubs. Usually, I'm playing video games or learning about Russian culture or looking up something hockey-related. Like anyone cares.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have an account on OKCupid.

In the instance that I happen to message YOU instead, don't be a dick. Seriously, if you're not going to talk to me through OKC's IM feature, at least have the common courtesy to tell me I'm not your type, or whatever other "reason" you have for ignoring me. It would save me a lot of time if you did.
