My self-summary
I'm no longer interested in meeting anyone on here, because I have a boyfriend now- someone that I met on OKC. Keep looking, & hopefully you'll find someone great too! :) (I don't know how to inactivate my profile.)
Hi! Nice to meet you. I am looking for someone a little bit on the geeky side. I would prefer someone who was once in a marching band, listens to NPR, and would feel at ease attending a musical or museum with me. Kindness to others and having a positive impact on the world are essential. My Myers Briggs personality type is INFP. This means I'm more introverted than extroverted, more intuitive & reflective than sensing, more feeling than thinking (but this one was almost a tie), and more perceiving than judging. If you are aware of your type, I would be interested. I think of myself as conservative, creative, unique, loyal, and artistic. I have a deep thirst for knowledge and love to share ideas, observations, thoughts, and feelings with others. I love to read, watch plays, and spend time in my organic garden. I am musical and enjoy writing poetry as a form of self expression. I am responsible, sweet, and very analytical. I would like to meet an kind, compassionate, reliable person who has made God the priority of their life. Family must be extremely important to you. Ultimately, I am seeking someone who is compatible with me on a spiritual level.
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to better myself everyday! I do not seek status or other worldly honors and ambitions anymore. As a spiritual ASPIRANT, I wish to be pleasing to God. As a romantic ASPIRANT, I will hopefully find mutually fulfilling love and companionship with a religiously and philosophically compatible man. I'm a christian who is seeking a simple life with someone introspective who values things of true importance such as holiness, compassion, love, service, and purity. I'm ASPIRING to find this best friend, so we can enjoy getting to know each other, connecting, and having fun experiences together.
I’m really good at
being empathetic and merciful. I am a good listener and am looking for the same. I also want someone who is willing to open up about their thoughts and express them. I am the friend that everyone seems to think has a big sign on her forehead saying "Tell me all your problems". I'm a former social worker.
The first things people usually notice about me
I get the most compliments on my big green eyes. My dark brown hair is very long now- much longer than in the photo. I sometimes put temporary auburn highlights in it. I'm very light complected. I am a mix of Scottish, Irish, English, and Cherokee descent. I feel most closely linked to my Native American ancestry. I attend a couple of pow wows each year. As far as my personality goes, people most often call me sweet, smart, friendly, and quiet, but I am only quiet in public!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: My favorite books are The Dream Giver by Bruce Wilkinson, Making the Difference by Dr. Larry Little, The Five Love Languages by Dr. Gary Chapman, and Having Our Say by the Delaney Sisters. I also enjoyed Hinds' Feet On High Places by Hannah Hurnard and Our Father's Fields by Dr. James Everett Kibler. Recently, I read The Five People You Meet In Heaven. This is such an amazing short book that is great for anyone interested in forgiveness and how we are all connected. All of these books have to do with religion, history, or social sciences. I regularly spend time studying The Holy Bible. (Of course, this isn't just any book.) I prefer the King James Version. Although, I'm a lifelong southern baptist, lately, I've been reading about Catholicism and learning about the writings of the early church.

TV: Each week, I look forward to watching the television series Discovering the Jewish Jesus. Learning the Jewish history of Christianity from a messianic rabbi has been eye-opening.
Sometimes I watch Hotel Impossible and Restaurant Impossible. I'm really getting into Dr. Who. David Tenant is my favorite doctor. I've been watching old episodes of the previous doctors. I also like to watch the History Channel, National Geographic, and TLC. I find myself pulled in to documentaries about subcultures, the titanic, the civil war, and presidents.

Music: I love all kinds of music from classical to jazz to southern rock-and even Christmas music. I'll happily listen to anyone heavily influenced by the blues like Led Zeppelin, Lynard Skynard, Cinderella, and The Civil Wars. Lately, I can not get enough of John Frusciante. I love The White Stripes, U2, The Cure, Placebo, Dave Matthews Band (Funny the Way It Is and Lying In The Hands of God), Alabama, Nat King Cole (Nature Boy), anything Stevie Wonder, and a lot of the 80's hair bands. Crystal Eyes by L.A. Guns and the cover What a Wonderful World by the Ramones are two of my favorites. I listen to the Greatest Hits CD by The Red Hot Chili Peppers a lot, MJ's timeless Human Nature (love the dancing at the end), and the unreleased Give Into Me. Lastly, I love I Am by Nuclear Valdez, the former Cuban-American band. This albumn has stood the test of time. Favorite songs from the album are Summer, Running the the Fields, and Hope. I can't forget Havanna Song. It might make your soul dance without you realizing it.
I just noticed I listed no females. How about India Arie (Ready For Love), Mary Mary, Anoushka Shankar, and Stevie Nicks?

Movies: I don't watch a lot of movies, but I recently saw Life of Pi twice. I typically love period pieces. Anybody familiar with Tristan and Isadole? I just saw The Odd Life of TImothy Green.
The six things I could never do without
God, compassion, hope, optimism, tenacity, & my 2 teenage children. I can do without most things. Things are just things. It really is true that the most important things in life are not things. I appreciate a beautiful sunset, a catchy melody, or a Sunday drive to look at the changing leaves, Christmas lights, etc. with a good friend more than a store bought trinket. I used to focus on more trivial things, but now as I'm getting older and hopefully wiser, I'm getting more drawn into nature and appreciating a simpler way of living. I believe finding love fits into this.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
social sciences, personality types, criminal law, martial arts, my organic garden, genomics, genealogy, words, art, and service to others. Also, I ponder politics, what makes people tick, how we all got to where we are in our lives, interpersonal relationships, international news, and animals. I think a lot about the beauty in the world that is there for all of us when we slow our lives down to really take it in. I think about the boundlessness of love and how much I have to be thankful for. I think about what I can do to make someone else's day a little bit better. I wonder if there is anyone else who also thinks about theses things.
On a typical Friday night I am
I am usually at home. This is where I am happiest! Sometimes I can be found playing a long game of chess or Uno with my 2 teenage sons. We have been known to complete some unbelievably complicated jig saw puzzles this year. Other times I'm reading, watching tv, or catching up on household chores like ironing or doing yard work. Each one is a bit different, but I like to relax at home, putter around the house, cook from scratch, and connect with loved ones with long, peaceful conversations. Of course, I appreciate going out to a nice dinner, the park, a play, or a movie once in awhile, but rarely do. Ideally, in the long run, I want someone who wants to come home to me rather than go out with me.
I could be at home experimenting in the kitchen with veggies and fruits I buy at a small, local, Mexican grocery store. I buy candy, produce, and spices I have never heard of. They have the best bakery there.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am very talkative and open one on one or in very small groups; however, you won't catch me vying for attention in a room full of people. In a relationship, I would want to spend a lot of time talking.
On my own I can be a bit too serious, so I am looking for someone that I feel comfortable enough with to show my fun side. I want more lightheartedness in my life.
I was widowed in 2004.
I have an odd sense of humor. Most people don't "get it", but those special few who do think I'm rather funny.
I love to write. If you message me, I will most likely write messages that are entirely too long. You've been warned! :)
Also, I'm known as "geeky sweet" on another website.
My adventurous side gets a kick out of watching Ultimate Fighting Championships and Dog and Beth on the Hunt (Get 'em, Leland!). People who know me really don't believe I like it, but maybe they don't really know me. It also surprises people to find out that I loved taking marksmanship classes and martial art classes in college.
I’m looking for
  • Straight guys only
  • Ages 33–55
  • Located anywhere
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating
You should message me if
If you enjoy sitting on the front porch watching it rain or if you have ever been told you are an old soul, I would like to chat with you. If you are loyal, take pleasure in the little things life has to offer, and have been told that you own too many cats but do not care, you should know that you are not the only one. If you are a giver and have a good heart to go along with a high emotional IQ, let's chat. I would like to write someone for a while and see how that goes.
Conversely, I want to point out what I am not looking for in a relationship. I don't like big parties, drugs, drinkings, bars, or smoking. If you are a workaholic or a controlling perfectionist who is more interested in judging others than getting to know them, I am not for you. So if you are a conservative, positive person, send me a message! New friends are great.
If you are still curious about me, I have embarrassingly answered tons and tons of the questions on here- a lot of them "with explanations". I originally got on here for the tests, so I have taken lots of those as well. I think the personality part of the profile has me pegged pretty well. *************The Best Quality Test said that I am humble, so you can imagine that it pains me a bit to point out that the How Unique Are You Test states that I am "very Unique". So go ahead and message me if you want to chat with a Little Mermaid/ emo kid/ shoulda have been born in Luxembourg/ 4- the individualist / g'n'r genius/ F major/ artistic soul/ teacher/ the smart friend/ hot tamale/ romantic lover/basset hound/ Elmo/ forest green/ water element/ rabbit spirit. ;) That's me!

Thanks for reading, and have a great day!
