My self-summary
I'm an Atlanta filmmaker that masquerades as a software designer most days. I'm pulled in all directions by the things I have yet to try and places I have yet to visit (I have three continents left to see, for example..). In that vein, I consider myself a traveler, and I love being in airports, if only for the possibilities they offer. (Yes, that's a little out there, I admit, but it's still true. Even when you're headed to Akron...) Being a filmmaker, I love movies both old and new with an arguably unhealthy zeal, so there's an appreciation for the visual arts that comes with me, part and parcel.

My two dogs offer some ever-present grounding and happiness when things get too busy or too crazy, because they're always there, and they always need to be fed. A little routine isn't a bad thing.) I live in a house with a big yard near the Kirkwood neighborhood in Atlanta, and have lived in most areas around the city in my ten years of being here.

I'm looking for a vicious sense of humor and intellect, first and foremost. Someone who is able to make a joke at my expense, then instantly feel horrible about it and apologize, only to make another one five minutes later. I'd also like to find someone who can appreciate the art in menial things, the way traffic flows like water some days, the way rusted out factories can actually look like big monsters if the sun hits them just right. Goofy things like that...
What I’m doing with my life
The designer / developer stuff pays the bills, but I'd sure be happier if I was spending my days making movies. In the last few years, I've made serious progress toward that, and hopefully this will be the year I make the grand switch over to making dramatically less money to actually enjoy my days at work.

All that said, the best job I ever had was in college, where I managed a comic book ship for a couple of years.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music - I grew up in northern Indiana, where you look for any escape you can, so my tastes are all over the place. That said, the current necessities are The Gaslight Anthem, Frightened Rabbit, Drive By Truckers, and Rise Against. The old standbys are old Tribe Called Quest, Bruce Springsteen, Toad the Wet Sprocket, and... Maybe Eve 6? They've been showing up a lot on shuffle lately.

Movies - I'm a filmmaker, so you need to know that I could go for pages on this one. I'll restrain myself and just hit the high points though. Snatch, The Usual Suspects, the Vacation movies, Fletch, Spies Like Us, and the Indiana Jones Trilogy. (Yes, I know there's a fourth one. I decline to acknowledge it as canon, thank you.) As for newer stuff, I'm a huge fan of what Joss Whedon did with the Avengers, I thought Argo was the best movie of last year, and the greatest romantic comedy of all time belongs to Love Actually.
The six things I could never do without
1) My phone. I admit, it's past an addiction and closer to a part of my being.
2) My camera. Even if I don't use it 24/7, it's represents a lot about art and film and all that nonsense.
3) My self-deprecating sense of humor? Totally a defense mechanism.
4) My dogs. They're my family, what can I tell you...
5) A car. Traveling is a huge part of my days and nights.
6) Huh... Maybe some money? Money's important these days, right?
