I am empathic, relative, and bipedal.

My Self-Summary

A moth once asked me for the time; I thought it best to be honest with her. Why lie to a moth about so prudent a question? "Half past midnight, my friend" was my response as she flitted from bulb to bulb. I asked how she had come to be in this particular closet but her mumbled answer was lost in the din of scrambling rats below. I considered asking her to speak up but I didn't feel particularly entitled to such inquiries. I politely nodded and went back to looking for the batteries which I had been sent to retrieve. This didn't, however, appear to be the battery closet and I was at a loss for excuses to remain any longer. I turned back to ask after her family only to find her lying in a rather noncommittal heap upon a dusty notebook labeled, "Precious Prescience." Prudent indeed.

What I’m doing with my life

Something I'm still trying to figure out. Where on Earth to start?

I’m really good at

repartees, correctly using words for the first time, roasting vegetables, forming opinions holding little significance, correcting your grammar, remembering dreams, wondering if I've said too much.

The first things people usually notice about me

Whether my eyes are blue or green, the abundance of space over my head, or the symmetry of my mouth when the surrounding muscles express happiness.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

The Life of Pi, The Fountainhead, Tess of the d'Urbervilles, Jane Eyre, A Clockwork Orange, Invisible Monsters, the Harry Potter series, etc...

Annie Hall, Phoebe in Wonderland, Almost Famous, Back to the Future, Let the Right One In. I will enjoy any movie, given a certain quality level of acting, writing, and directing.

Current playlist: Muse, Elliott Smith, Kind of Like Spitting, The Weakerthans, Rilo Kiley, Belle and Sebastian, Arcade Fire, The Shins, The Magnetic Fields.

I have a penchant for vegan pizza, sushi, and sandwiches.

The six things I could never do without

A bed piled high
Mobility
Animal companions
Mental stimulation/quandaries
Variety
Tea

I spend a lot of time thinking about

the various scenarios going on around me that I know nothing about but am making up anyway; other ways to say the things I've just said; how I'm going to manage to consistently apply every lesson I've ever learned for the rest of my life; why my toes are so cold; what has that person got stuck in their teeth?

On a typical Friday night I am

subject to various activities not involving cantaloupe. Sometimes they do involve cantaloupe, though. You know, when it's in season.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I am sometimes prone to believing in a separate existence to ours: Maybe just different planes of reality, maybe just frequencies outside our perception.

Other times I'm positively cynical. And gauchely oxymoronic.

I also secretly want to sing in a band.

You should message me if

you weren't put off by my avoiding the open-ended essay in the first field by writing a (very) short story.

you are vegan or greatly enjoy vegan food.
