Remembering the years when movies and albums came out. Not like a Rain Man thing, just a nerd thing.

Rain Man came out in 1988.

That I'm not from Calgary, despite a good 65% of my friends being from Calgary.

Books: The Corrections, Our Band Could Be Your Life, Crying of Lot 49, Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, Blood Meridian, any Chuck Klosterman and J.D. Salinger too. Currently reading Fortress of Solitude by Jonathan Lethem.

Comics: Anything by Daniel Clowes and Adrian Tomine, SCOTT PILGRIM and The Walking Dead.

Movies: P.T. Anderson, Coen Bros, Jean-Pierre Melville, Miyazaki, Jim Jarmusch and David Lynch are some favourites but my taste seems to vary from week to week.

TV: X-Files forever. Arrested Development, Treme, Breaking Bad, Community, Mad Men, Party Down, Deadwood and Louie. Just started Twin Peaks finally, don't really know why it took so long.

Music: Pretty much listen to everything from 1940s jazz to modern electronic music, 80s post-punk to hip-hop. Easier if I just put the last few things played in my iTunes: Yo La Tengo, Low, Burial, Black Angels and Otis Redding.

The first level of Maslow's Hierarchy of needs. You know: air, water, food... stuff like that.
