My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hey there. This can't possibly tell you who I am, but here goes nothing.
I'm a Nietzschean, Marxian, Derridean, Deleuzian, optimistic feminist hedonist. Okay, so I'm being a bit facetious with the labels (though they do all fit me in their respective ways). I'm someone who feels things intensely and who gets a rush from trying to think of the most challenging, counter-intuitive ideas possible. I have an insatiable hunger for learning new things, enjoying friends and leisure as much as possible, and dreaming big while living small.

I adore intellectually stimulating conversations, but I also love laughing as much as possible and see no contradiction at all between the two.

The one thing I really value above all else is a love of life. For me, life in all its suffering, creation, and destruction is innocent and holy in itself (in an irreligious sense). I'm the kind of person who still feels mesmerized by a butterfly, still feels like it's an adventure to see a film at a theater, still revels in the taste of a cold drink while sitting in the grass with a contented smile after having written about death and suffering.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I taught English in Japan, came back to Toronto to get my MA in philosophy (by writing a dense sixty page paper on Friedrich Nietzsche that most people will never read) and am now back in Japan to teach English. Philosophy (especially existentialism) is still my greatest art and passion, but I love any teaching.

By night I am NOT a crime fighter. No, not me; no, sir. That handsome, charming masked man you see at night fighting no good scoundrels who sometimes responds to my first name when his guard is down is so not me.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I have no qualms about sounding arrogant in saying that I'm damn good at philosophy. To confront monumental tasks, you need the corresponding confidence.

Lastly, purely on the condition that you never ever ask for any proof or demonstration, just naively accept that I'm amazing at dancing, triathalons, wrestling bears with nothing but my two hands, singing opera and flying (yes, flying).
The first things people usually notice about me

People tend to think I'm quirky. I don't know what counts as quirky, but I'll take their word for it. Oh don't worry - I don't dress up in my grandmother's clothes at night and rub myself in peanut butter or anything (but come to think of it, it's disturbing that this came to mind).

I love talking to people in general, so they tend to notice that, as I'm not very shy.

Books - The Gay Science, Beyond Good and Evil, The Genealogy of Morals, Thus Spake Zarathustra, The German Ideology, Economic and Philosophic Manuscripts of 1844, The History of Sexuality, On Transforming Philosophy, Phenomenology of Spirit, 1984, Animal Farm, Life of Pi, Lives of the Saints, and most Shakespeare tragedies.

Movies - Pan's Labyrinth, Life is Beautiful, Shawshank Redemption, Brokeback Mountain, Inception, The Fountain, Synecdoche New York, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, Annie Hall, Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and too many more. I love film.

Music - Radiohead (my favourite!), Matthew Good, Sigur Ros, The National, Nine Inch Nails, The Antlers, Explosions in the Sky, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Prince, Tragically Hip, Bruce Springsteen, and many more.

TV - Walking Dead, Sopranos, The Simpsons (seasons 3-9), and that's it. TV bores me.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
etc. etc. /smartass answer

All you really need is imagination, love, and the material conditions that allow those two to flourish together.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Just about everything.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Some combination of heading out somewhere with one or two close friends, watching a movie, reading while relaxing with a cup of tea, writing something and laying down happily listening to my iPod.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

I'm a shameless hopeless romantic.

For any earth shattering secrets, you just might have to say "please" first.
