My goals are to lead a healthy life, make the world a better place, spread positive energy instead of negative, and do things that make me happy. Piece of cake, right?

I'm definitely an introvert, but I try to get outside my comfort zone frequently. I'm a sucker for volunteering and spending my time helping others, sometimes to the detriment of my hobbies. I can be shy, but I'm a good listener.

Living a sustainable/regenerative lifestyle is very important to me. I have a graduate degree I'm putting to use by working in a related applied field that combines design and environmental science. I am actively involved in a few local community organizations that promote sustainability and bicycling. I love bicycles and nature, and I try to get outside as much as possible even if it's just to walk around my neighborhood. On the weekends, I garden, hang out with friends, volunteer, hike, bike, organize my life, and sleep in when I can! I love hiking and would like to backpack or go camping more often. I tend to rotate my hobbies, so I am rotating out some community event organizing soon for more serious violin practicing.

My favorite genres of books and movies tend to be sci-fi and fantasy. I grew up on the Chronicles of Narnia, Redwall, and LOTR. I have read the Silmarillion, but only once. When I was a teenager I read a ton of classics but not for the underlying meanings you would learn in English classes. I really like stream of consciousness writing, and Catch-22 is a strong favorite of mine. I'm currently into Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels, especially the witches. His books are formulaic, but still hilarious. In another life I would aspire to be Granny Weatherwax, but less prudish. I also like post apocalyptic books and movies, and would rather see a comic book action movie than a rom com.

For food, I love Thai, Vietnamese, Mexican, and Indian. I like trying new cuisine.

Favorite movies: Primer, Moon, Gattaca, Donnie Darko, Royal Tenenbaums and most other Wes Anderson films. Just saw Argo, and that was pretty good.

Music used to be a lot more important to me when I was younger. Now my favorites are Arcade Fire and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I like some electronic stuff including Pretty Lights, some Deadmau5. I'm generally bad with song titles and band/DJ names. Mostly I listen to alternative. Blue grass/folk music is good on occasion. I have a violin that someday I'll learn to play better.
