I am intelligent, eclectic, and eccentric.

My Self-Summary

i am an exceptionally odd, open, and laid-back person. though i myself never partied much, i have been known to grab a beer at lunchtime, every rare now and again. i have always been attracted to the more colorful personalities, rather than the more mundane, and if you were to ever meet my friends, you would see that the whole lot of us are strange. i spent my teenage years as a musician, and though music doesn't consume my life anymore, i am still very much in love with it. i like opinionated people who are still very open minded. i play video games, card games, board games, whatever. i love to play games. chess is a favorite of mine, though i am not good at it. i play simply for the joy of playing. games are something i love very much. just so long as they don't involve trying to make someone seem to be something they aren't... if you get my drift.

i like tattoos and piercings, though i only have the latter. helps with the cost when your best friend is a body piercer. i have 3 piercings in each ear, currently, and i am considering more, but not at the moment. i guess you would call me a bit punkish, but i think that more summarizes my clothing style than my personality. i like punk rock, classic rock, alternative, metal, classical... mostly everything except for rap, r&b, and country.

i love being outside, particularly in the water. it's hard for me to think of a place i feel more at home than wading/swimming in a stream or creek out in the woods. i grew up in a house that sits out in the middle of the woods, and i learned to appreciate not only the privacy, but the beauty of the land itself, and it made me want to do what i can to protect it. part of what convinced me to go into green engineering.

What I’m doing with my life

i work as a resident support provider in order to pay the bills while i am in school. i may not have much free time, but i will do what i can with what little i have. i am pursuing a bachelor's degree in architectural design, and after i get that, will be going for a masters as well.

i don't have much time to spend with my friends, but when i do, there is no telling what we will be doing, or where we will end up. sometimes, we end up at a truck stop in Smith's Grove, or at Denney's or Waffle House or even once or twice in a park at the top of Reservoir Hill... the locals should know where i am talking about. just in case you don't, however, i would be more than glad to show you what the city looks like at 3am from the highest point in bowling green.

I’m really good at

i was really good at fencing, and martial arts, as they are passions of mine, and i am hoping that restarting at the university will afford me the motivation to get back into shape and start training again. i am a gamer of various types, but mostly to fill the hours when there isn't anything else to do. i am not very good at coopering but i do like it quite a bit.
***edit*** sadly, the spiraling economy has forced me to give up (hopefully temporarily) my coopering, and my schedule leaves little time for training at the moment.

The first things people usually notice about me

i am very talkative and taciturn, they come and go by turns. when i am home, i am generally quiet, but when i am out with friends, i have a tendency to talk quite a bit. to some people, i come off as arrogant, as if i think i am better or smarter than everyone else, but this isn't the case. i simply have a habit of thoroughly explaining what it is that i talk about. part of being so talkative is that i have a tendency to make fun of anything, anyone and everything. when i make fun of people that i know, i expect them to make fun of me, and be able to take just as bad as they dish out. i live by the philosophy that if you can't laugh at yourself, you don't deserve to laugh at others. i constantly do things that i find funny because i am sometimes not the most graceful of beings.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

books... why don't we go with authors, to start out with?
Hal Duncan, Janny Wurts, Robert Jordan, Tad Williams, Nietzsche, Robert Frost, Edgar Allen Poe, John Marco, Philip K. Dick, Walter M. Miller, Patrick Rothfuss... there are many others, but that is all i can come up with off the top of my head...
movies... again, a great many... Blade Runner, Fifth Element, Brick, Lucky # Slevin, Reservoir Dogs, Matchstick Men, Boonedock Saints, Trainspotting, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Smoking Aces, A Clockwork Orange... that should be enough to get the picture...

music... Nine Inch Nails, Dream Theater, Theatre of Tragedy, The Cranberries, Reel Big Fish, Aquabats, Sublime, Dementia Cookie Box, AC/DC, Led Zepplin, Savatage (not the Beastie Boys song), Counting Crows, No Doubt, Blues Traveler, The Streets, Smashing Pumpkins, Modest Mouse, The Molly McGuires, Sinatra, the Wallflowers... that's just whats on the next 20 list of my media player.

food... most things i like. i love ethnic foods, like curry dishes, sashimi, bangers and mash... i particularly love mediterranean, asian, middle eastern, and Anglo-Saxon foods. but i go for fast food about as often as i do anything else. though i do seem to be frequenting Ichiban a lot more often. i think i am addicted to the kalamari rolls.

The six things I could never do without

6)architect scale
5)music
4)my computer
3)coffee
2)space to move around in
1)my phone

I spend a lot of time thinking about

usually, i spend a lot of time thinking of beauty. sounds odd, i know, but i am always fascinated by the natural beauty that i find around me. the stars and the moon, flowers growing through concrete or ice, the ice itself, the pretty shiny green on a june bug... that sort of thing.

more and more often of late, i seem to be thinking about sensations. like the difference between a brief gust of a breeze compared to the air you feel from someone walking past you.

On a typical Friday night I am

i work friday nights, and i am free only during the evening till about 11 on saturdays... school kinda sapped my free time, and work takes most of the rest, but after midnight fridays i am usually hanging out with my friends, playing dominoes under blacklight, or playing cards or just sitting around and bullshitting.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

i'm a pretty open person, so... i suppose i could tell you whatever you would like to know. but since that doesn't say much... i have an almost unnatural love of peppermint.

You should message me if

if you honestly like someone who is honest, and off beat, and don't mind someone that makes fun of everything, and are actually going to give me a chance. i may quite possibly be the strangest person you will ever meet.
