I'm a storyteller. I love wrapping my mind around a whole lot of complexity and distilling it into something powerful to share with whomever is open.

I am a generous spirit. I'll email a friend's resume to someone I just met at a party -- and follow up. I sense people's energies extremely acutely, I can actually physically feel it, and I'm good at realigning things if you let me.

I live in the real world. I am logistically capable. I have an MBA. But I really enjoy when someone manages things and I get to think, feel and create. But I can do things too.

Directing documentaries, music videos and commercials. Starting up a website.

The book that gets me every time is Notes from the Underground.

There's this Japanese film called Mabarosi that's probably my favorite. This perfectly happy man commits suicide for no reason, and his beautiful widow splits her time between starting a new life and wondering why he did it. She's standing by the water at the end, with her second husband, realizing she can't do both.

You should see the way it's shot though. The camera's locked in and wide, and the people move slowly through the frame. No garbage closeups (or music) to tell us what or when to feel. People suffering and wondering actually are dots in the landscape, not big teary eyes, and the director, Kore-eda, a hero of mine, knows it.

When I'm talking to not-smart people I sometimes get an anxious feeling that all the smart people are gone away for good, so I couldn't do without them.
