Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
More than anything I love to learn and share knowledge. I am
perpetually looking things up. I live simply, but fully. I work to
live, not live to work. I collect experiences, not stuff.
I like science, nature, design, history, the Pacific Northwest, dry
wit, cephalopods, staying up late, long talks with people I care
about, breakfast at non-breakfast times, minimalism, and figuring
I've been to 25 countries and I'm always thinking about where to go
next. Nothing beats the excitement of waking up in a strange new
place or trying something for the first time.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
When I was 25 I realized I hadn't really done anything worthwhile.
So I quit my job, moved across the country, and started collecting
experiences. It's the best decision I've ever made, and I've since
been catching up on everything awesome.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Spontaneous fun times. I don't do boring dates. Portland is way too
amazing to only ever sit somewhere consuming a beverage. You let me
know when you're free and I'll find something awesome for us to do.
Better keep your passport handy.
The first things people usually notice about me

One of my favorite words is nazlanmak. It means pretending
reluctance or indifference when you are actually willing or eager.
It is a human behavior that I completely lack, for better or worse.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I like anything that makes me think, laugh, or expands my horizons.
I read mostly non-fiction — popular science, history, travelogues,
and long form articles.
I think British science-fiction comedy, much like 1980s time travel
movies, is a disproportionately awesome subgenre.
I like dark comedies, documentaries, and anything by Stanley
Kubrick, Akira Kurosawa, Woody Allen, Wes Anderson, or the Coen
Brothers. I've pretty much based my life philosophy on Ferris
Bueller's Day Off.
Yes, I like every show you like that was unjustly cancelled too
soon. I don't watch a lot of television, but I'll make time for
Doctor Who and Mad Men, and The Daily Show is usually on when I
I grew up on Cuban food, and I'd love to share it with you. I also
enjoy Mediterranean and Asian foods.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Trying to understand people. Why things are the way they are, and
how to make them work better. What else I could do without. What I
should be doing instead of what I am doing. My next
I dwell and overanalyze things more than I should, but it's just
because I'm constantly trying to understand and improve. I seldom
let my brain idle. I'm always reading, writing, thinking, planning,
or doing something to occupy my mind.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
None of my days are typical if I can help it.
I play a lot of board games. I also enjoy circus/burlesque shows,
karaoke, both good and hilariously bad movies, pub trivia or
anything else that's nerdy fun times.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

I'm not keen on most social conventions. I tend to say odd and/or
inappropriate things at inopportune times. I overshare and ramble.

If you're passionately into something — nerdy subjects especially —
and aren't afraid to effuse with enthusiasm over it, then that's
the most endearing quality to me.
Ultimately I'm looking for people I can feel comfortable around. Do
you think my flavor of weird would mix well with yours? Go on then.
