I am irreverent, dramatic, and inscrutable.
My Self-Summary
First and foremost, I'm a
geek. However, I refuse to let that define
me. I've come to realize that it's a beautiful world out there
filled with beautiful people (even if just on the inside) and I
wasted a lot of time putting them in boxes and otherwise rejecting
them. One thing you need to know about me is that I have an
overdeveloped sense of
humor. I tend to say things that are funny
to me, but that a lot of people don't seem to get. So if you
appreciate my witticisms, we'll do just fine.
What I’m doing with my life
Living in Sacramento with my lovely partner,
KateMinola. Together we're looking for
fun and interesting people in my newly adopted home. We like to
hang out in midtown when time permits, and check out the nightlife.
We also love exploring new places, but we have a particular
fondness for
San
Francisco and
Berkeley. Personally, I'm working on my
creative side -
acting mostly. I'm also developing my eye
for
photography. I've been lucky in that
it's paid for itself over the past couple of years. Other artistic
endeavors: I've done a little
painting and wouldn't mind getting back
into that.
Graphic design - I design most of
the artwork for our little local
theater company, plus it helps with the
web work.
I’m really good at
Being quiet and reserved, and coming up with a comment from left
field that makes you double over laughing. (I can't believe I had
that spelled 'laughting' for so long.) I can act. I've worked some
local shows, just finished a supporting role in a local feature
film, and I'm studying with some great teachers. I love speaking in
different accents. I may not be 100% accurate with them, but people
tell me I am damn entertaining.
The first things people usually notice about me
The blinding glare from my head. Once you get past that, you'll
find that I'm charming (if I don't say so myself!), funny, and
kind-hearted.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Warning: I haven't updated this in a long time. My favorite book is
the one I'm reading right now. Recently I've read 'A Long Way Down'
by Nick Hornby, 'The Passion' by Janet Masterton. 'My French Whore'
by Gene Wilder. Anything by [Murakami]. I got to see the play based
on his short story 'After the War' at Berkeley Rep and found it
sweet and fanciful. I love movies of all sorts, from lowbrow
comedies like 'Anchorman' to darker
dramas like 'Fargo' or 'Boys Don't Cry',
to classics like 'Casablanca' or '[Citizen Kane]'. Of course, as an
actor, a great performance in any film will keep me glued. My
musical tastes...my iPod has Metallica, Iron Maiden,
Deftones,
Portishead, Snow Patrol,
Kruder &
Dorfmeister,
Sarah Maclachlan,
Alice in Chains,
Pearl Jam, B-52s, Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen, Journey, Queen,
The Clash, Cranberries, and
Delerium. When I have a bit of time to
listen (usually driving), I find myself listening to podcasts more
frequently--either programming-related (see
geek, above), or any of This American Life,
The Moth, Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me, or Savage Love.
The six things I could never do without
My kids.
A stage.
My friends.
My sense of humor.
Music.
My sense of adventure.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Hmmm. What don't I think about? Okay, that's not so helpful. How to
be more creative. How to make the people around me happy.
On a typical Friday night I am
Either hanging out with my kids, or out making new friends!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I have excellent karma on
slashdot.
You should message me if
You like to laugh. You think bald is sexy. You think someone with a
lot of different skills is fascinating, even if he isn't an expert
in most of them. You really like to laugh. You aren't afraid
of silence.
