I like adventuring and pushing my comfort zone. Like jumping off of cliffs, sleeping in the streets, riding a motorcycle around Brazil, letting strangers buy my drinks, drinking the water, eating things that look and smell weird.

I love culture, both local and foreign, especially food, music, dancing, language, and ways they lead to social liberation. I just returned from Central America where I was visiting/helping some friends/ finding myself this winter. I speak Portuguese fairly well and found after getting to Guatemala that my Spanish is not as good as I imagined, but I can communicate pretty well.

I love plants. I connect with my spirit through dancing and music. I am ready to learn more acrobatics. My cat is my unconditional best friend. One day I hope to have babies.

I am trying out polyamory. It fits in quite well with the heightened spiritual awareness I broke into on my travels. I envision a world where people can love each other freely, honesty and communication are not optional, and people are happy both for themselves and others. Some might call me a hippie ;) This is not the 60s though, and I am not into tie-dye.

I have a small homestead in the woods growing annual vegetables and flowers, berry bushes and a couple fruit trees, numerous perennial herbs, and ducks/chickens/goats. For my bread I work part time at a little non-profit school teaching and in the friendraising /fundraising side of the administration. This year I hope to expand on the gardening/cooking program I've run for the past few years coordinate volunteers to grow lots of food for the food shelf.

Finally I am diving head first into getting my herbal medicine business off the ground.

After my experience this year I am planning on heading back to Central America next winter.

The fiction I like is usually eco-feminist sci-fi and fantasy, dystopias, anime, stories about nature spirits, or shows and movies involving drag, like Hayao Miyazaki movies, Tank Girl, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and Firefly. My favorite nonfiction books are Wild Fermentation, The Book of Herbal Wisdom by Matthew Wood, and Nourishing Traditions.

I find TV to be mostly subtlely disguised mind control and avoid it. I strongly dislike televised sports.

I like most music, my favorites are conscious hip-hop, old time, bluegrass, electronic, political folk, anti-folk, funk, indie, and 90s dance jams. I guess I don't much like metal or classic rock. My all time favorite musicians include Medicine for the People, K'Naan, Carolina Chocolate Drops...

I love food. Fresh veggies, especially brassicas, berries, beans, Indian, Afro-Brazilian (omg acaraje), raw food, garlic, acai, olive oil, sour cream. I used to work as a sushi chef and also love sushi.
