I don't take things too seriously unless they cause suffering to others. I highly value reason and like to align my beliefs with reality as best as I can. I like to challenge other's opinions but know when to stop. I like honest but compassionate people and try my best to be that way myself. It's really easy to distract me with something fun or adventurous to do (and please do!)

I am a first year graduate student in the physics department at CU Boulder currently TAing an introductory physics class. This summer, I will be working with a group at NIST working on improving atomic clocks using quantum information techniques. I am from Raleigh, NC and graduated from NC State University with a B.S. in Physics and Applied Mathematics. I'm going to be in Boulder for about 6 years, so I wanted to meet some people outside of the physics graduate program to maintain my sanity and also because I'm not too keen on dating a colleague. Although graduate school takes a lot of time, I still make time to hang out with friends and to bike and hike around Boulder.

Since moving out here this year I've really got into cycling. I love going on long adventures to see the beauty around Boulder.

I also like to ski (at Eldora), rollerblade, and ice skate. I am really into board games of all kinds and get excited when introducing new games to my friends. They also sometimes bring out the competitive side in me!

I have pretty thick eyebrows?

I am more into nonfiction, especially popular psychology and philosophy topics. I am currently reading Animal Liberation and The Moral Landscape. When I was a kid I was really into the Redwall series but if I do read fiction, it's got to be something like 1984.

I like scifi movies and occasionally a cheesy romantic comedy, but I'm not particularly fond of watching movies in theaters (Netflix is great!). I love Arrested Development and Firefly but am not into any shows right now.

I listen to a lot of different music depending on the circumstances. For example, dubstep while grading, classic rock or disco for singing along, and occasionally classical music when relaxing.

I love Mexican (and related), Indian and Mediterranean food (although since my mom is Palestinian and a mean cook, I'm a bit spoiled regarding the latter).

I think a lot of about physics, philosophy, politics and my future, but mostly how I am going to budget my time so that I can enjoy the outdoors of Boulder.
