My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hi- I am back on OKCupid after leaving the online dating world for 6 months. I am on it again to find someone serious. I've met some terrific people online at OKCupid and so I am still hopeful this medium can work out in the real world.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Now that it's summer I play lots of tennis and bike as much as I can.
For a living, I work in the global hospital industry - its a great mix of research and management. I love what I do.
This summer's plans include trips to the San Juan islands to see family, Vermont to do some camping with friends, and Costa Rica to ride horses, scuba dive, eat good food, and catch up on some books I've been meaning to read. Life is good.
The only thing I am missing is someone to do all these great things with who feels like a partner, companion and lover.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Creating amazing excel sheet checklists for planning trips. (but I never follow itineraries once I get where I am going...)
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
That's a tough one - you will tell me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

For books I always have a few going at the same time depending on my mood. Right now I am reading stuff by Cass Sunstein after hearing about his work on NPR. Terrific stuff on legal thought and logic. I always have a novel and of now it's Devil in the White City, which is a little darker than I thought it would be. But I love all the parts about the architecture of Chicago and the engineering that went into to building it. And then I always have some philosophy going on just to keep things rooted. For now it's Epictetis. Some of my all time favorite books are Vanity Fair, Cloud Atlas, Confederacy of Dunces, To Kill a Mockingbird, almost any Russian Literature (old and newer - e.g. Dostoyevsky and Bulgakov), Gore Vidal, Hemingway, and short stories and poems by Edgar Allen Poe.

I have come to really love (and admire the producers/creators of) quality TV shows.
(1) Breaking Bad
(2) Game of Thrones
(3) Walking Dead
(4) Masters of Sex
(5) Orange is the new Black
(6) Homeland
(7) Luther
(8) John Stewart
(9) The League (even though I know nothing about fantasy football)
(10) Downton Abby (yes I can admit I like this soap opera)

I love all food. I've travelled a lot for work and fun so there is not much I have not tried or would not be willing to try. I really enjoy cooking too - when I make the time for it. I caught some Halibut last summer in Alaska and froze and shipped it home. The filets filled my freezer but they are almost gone now. They made some terrific ceviche.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
hummous, red wine, bread, cheese, a comfortable bed, comfortable shoes, books, music, love, friendship, family--I could go on...
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
My next apartment....
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Tonight I was at Le Bain at the Standard for early drinks in the sun on the rooftop with some friends. Then rooftop films at MetroTech in Brooklyn. Pretty great way to start the weekend. But I could just as easily pop open a bottle of Primitivo, cook some pasta, and kick up my heels if that's what kind of week it was.

You are looking for something serious and have decided that you are really ready to make compromises in your hectic NY city life to make a relationship work. I can assure you that I am.
Oh, and also if you like Cherry Garcia ice cream and ironic humor.... just kidding. You don't have to like ironic humor. ;)
Or cherry Garcia ice cream...
