My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hi, I'm Adam! If you want a summary of the stuff below, I'm an honest person who enjoys hanging out with other people who are creative and funny. I like being clever and I'm sometimes a sarcastic smartass if it's appropriate, but I'm not mean-spirited unless by accident. I can be a bit shy, but I open up pretty fast to the right people. Also I'm pretty easy going, so chances are you're the right people. If that didn't sound pretentious (writing about myself always sounds that way to me), then keep reading and I hope you decide to message me!

I grew up abroad and moving from country to country every few years. I've attended schools in a few different places until finally graduating high school in Thailand. After that I moved back to California for college.

I went through a few majors while I was in college, but I was indecisive about what I really wanted to do (journalism, writing, computer science), so I left and decided I'd go back once I absolutely knew what major to pursue and didn't feel so jaded about the education system.

I know that I get the most joy out of life by being creative and entertaining others, and I can safely admit that my anxiety and self-criticism are the biggest reasons I'm not doing those kinds of things more often.

I've been told I'm fun, easy to talk to, and a good listener. I love rain and thunderstorms, and look forward to sitting next to a fireplace listening to jazz while reading a book during either of them when I'm an old man. Honestly, I'll probably be reading dumb stuff online instead when that actually happens, but the dream looks better without the laptop.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Currently I'm working full time at a start up company. Besides this, I occasionally write down story ideas and I'd really like to try out voice acting but I don't really know where to begin. For now it's just singing in my car and emulating voices I've heard in cartoons or movies or whatever.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I can cook eggs fairly well. Actually, I can cook most things pretty decently as long as I have at least part of a recipe. I tend to do a good job modifying recipes and making it work. I can make this Vindaloo Curry Meatloaf that's pretty great. It's really when I wing it entirely that I run into trouble.

I've been told I'm a good listener and give really good objective advice. I enjoy listening and helping people out,'s definitely the reason I tried my hand at psychology in school, and I've been told I could be a good one by many people.

I have a decent singing voice, though I only really use it in the car. I can't tell if I'd rather have a really clear voice like the swing/rat pack/crooner stuff I sometimes listen to our if I'd like to be able to growl like the more heavy rock/metal stuff I listen to, so for now it's being okay at both.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Depending on the day, my beard or hair? I've been told I have a nice smile, so maybe that? If it's me looking in the mirror, it's everything that's out of place.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: I read A Last Chance to See by Douglas Adams years after I'd read the Hitchhikers Guide series and I was really floored at how powerfully he could write seriously aside from his usual satirical tone. The only other book that really stands out to me was Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy. I had to read it for a class and it took me by complete surprise. I've never really read anything so bizarre and visceral as that.

Movies: Blues Brothers, Ghostbusters, Army of Darkness, Young Frankenstein, Good Night and Good Luck, Clue, almost all the Godzillas, both Trons, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Speed Racer, most of the Die Hards, most cheesy movies and some more serious movies, though I'm more likely to be in the mood to watch something funny than something serious. I used to be into the Oscar stuff, but it gets so exhausting.

Shows: Arrested Development, Community, Sherlock, MST3K, Breaking Bad, The Twilight Zone, most of the 90's WB cartoons like Batman and Freakazoid. Also, I can't get into Game of Thrones. I tried watching the first episode recently and I lost interest halfway through. Same with Doctor Who, but I'm willing to give that another shot, maybe with some guidance.

Music: Lots of different stuff that isn't most country, pop, and rap.
Hard rock, heavy metal, classical, jazz, swing, techno, house, some dubstep, orchestral movie soundtrack type stuff, video game soundtracks, 90's alternative, yacht rock, really weird experimental cacophonic stuff ("Threnody for the victims of Hiroshima" comes to mind)...I can appreciate or at least learn to eventually appreciate most music, but those are some of the genres I put on regularly.

Food: A really good homemade Macaroni and Cheese is awesome. Also Sushi, Pho and most curries, Massaman probably being my favorite. Really, the only thing I don't really look forward to is Chinese food. Lemon chicken is good, though.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
-- Being nice. I try to be as good, helpful and forgiving to people as possible. This probably seems like a lame answer but it's a pretty decent part of who I am. If I feel like I've wronged somebody I'll worry about it for a long while.

-- Company. I love talking to people about most anything. Even talking with somebody who doesn't share my opinion is better than someone not willing to talk at all

-- A sense of humor. Mine can be a little bit dark, though I can tone it down if I need to. The couple of times I've gotten really sick, the last thing I lose is my sense of humor.

-- Terrible weather. Mostly thunderstorms. Hail is a plus. Ideally I want to live in a place where it snows.

-- Road Trips. Actually, trips in general that aren't completely planned out. All the vacations I had as a kid were very scheduled and I hated that. You need to have time to get lost and adventure your way back home!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I tend to be thinking up short movie scenes or story ideas. All those little moment end up becoming part of something bigger, but they usually begin as 30 second visions in my head (I'm not schizophrenic I swear, they're just daydreams).
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Having dinner with my family and friends. Fridays are usually the night when we all get together and sort of wind down from the last week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I tend to get this idea in my head of something I want to do, then buy the stuff I need to do it, and then never really do it. I've bought myself all this boxing stuff and never really got into it...I bought all this stuff to stream myself playing games online and a microphone good enough to try voice acting with and am too nervous to be on camera live. In my defense, my internet upload isn't great and I can be competitively lazy, but I know it's still me backing out from fear or anxiety. I'm working on that.

And the laziness.
