I am Funny, Intelligent, and Liberal.
My Self-Summary
This is the box where you say 'I hate writing these things.' The
most defining factor of my life right now is the fact that I was
recently laid off. Though it's never fun, it has given me a chance
to think about and plan the direction of my career and life goals.
Cliche, I know, but that's how it goes. I'm pretty confident the
right (and a better) opportunity will come along.
Aside from that I am busy enjoying life with friends and family in
Cleveland. I will move for the right job but I will always love
this grungy, craggy city and it's ability to laugh at itself.
What I’m doing with my life
Looking for a new job. Coming to terms with almost being 30.
Enjoying time with friends. Anxious to go back to school for a
Masters.
I’m really good at
Making people laugh, writing, running, basketball, cooking,
cleaning a house. Really good at sucking at golf and enjoying it
anyway.
The first things people usually notice about me
Sense of humor, eyes.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: Jonathan Franzen, Jonathan Lethem, Colson Whitehead, Scott
Fitzgerald, Ian Frazier, generally read a lot of non-fiction on
politics, cultural history, etc.
Movies: The Back to the Future trilogy is my cherished favorite.
Anything with Robert Downey Jr, Daniel Day Lewis or Bill Hader.
Richard Linklater, Wong Kar Wai, Andrew Bujalski, most Judd Apatow
comedies, Friday 13th VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (for a
hoot)
Music: Oh, where to start. A lot of indie rock - Animal Collective,
Belle & Sebastian, Yo La Tengo, a lot of old stuff - the Who,
Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Motown. Exotica. Can't help but like
Lady Gaga in the right context, diddo Taylor Swift. Lil Wayne,
Ghostface Killah. Green Day, Radiohead, Wilco, U2, The Clash, Brian
Eno. Like to listen to polka and try to enjoy it by sheer force of
will.
Food: The banana is the perfect food - delicious, filling, healthy,
cheap, plays no games (you know exactly when it is ripe). Generally
lean towards Asian and Mediterranean cuisine. Love a good Indian or
Thai restaurant. Try to be a locavore but it's not easy.
The six things I could never do without
Come on.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My future, my family, Meaning o' Life, politics, about how to make
people laugh, about what to go to grad school for, about where and
how far to run today, what book to read this week. What am I going
to eat today, what bar for happy hour
On a typical Friday night I am
Having drinks with friends. Or maybe a wine-and-sweatpants night.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
This sounds like one of those tricky "your weakest quality"
questions you hear in a job interview.
You should message me if
You are not evil. You have a sense of humor, you have a sense of
irony. You care about serious things but aren't pretentious. You
are generally liberal in political outlook. You read my profile and
want to, or you just want to make friends.
