I've come to the conclusion that meeting someone physically attractive with a excellent personality is a myth.  Until I see it with my very own eyes, I refuse to believe it's true.

 

First, I am not a fan or supporter of adultery or cheating.  It's wrong.  It's vile.  And the people who do it need to be shafted with something long, sharp and sandpapery.  However, I am a believer in mutual, consensual polyamory.  It's all about being truthful and upfront.

With that being said I think that humans are naturally polyamorous and social creatures.   Granted, I understand that everyone is different, with dissimilar backgrounds and diverse upbringings but to limit a person to romantically loving just ONE other person seems selfish and unjust to me.  Now, I know many will argue that loving whoever you want is only tending to your own needs and thus selfish, but to counter that I say that EVERYONE has a moment when they question 'what would it be like to be in a relationship with them?'.  NO--not solely sex, but a genuine relationship.  (I mean, unless you're a hermit who lives in the mountains with dreadlocks and curly long fingernails and no teeth).  My point is, you meet people everyday, and once in your lifetime, you're bound to question your monogamous loyalty to your partner and vice-versa.

To expound upon that point, I believe that not acting on these romantic impulses and curiosities or being emotionally or physically manipulated so that you won't, will only build either resentment or depression between you and your partner.   Sure you'll still love that person but you'll always have that 'what if?' question in the back of you mind.  I don't know about you, but I hate hypotheticals; they serve no purpose other than to keep you wondering about things that have yet to come.

Another argue against polyamory is that the closer, and more emotionally involved and attached a couple gets the more chances that ugly green monster, jealousy has a chance to pop up.  Look, jealousy and polyamory simply don't mix.  If you find that you can't control yourself then it's simply not for you.  Feel free to go grow old knowing you've only known one love.  Jealousy (in this situation) stems from 1.  A lack of trust, and 2.  A lack of self-confidence  or 3.  Your partner is being a total bag of douche.  If you are getting jealous because you think your partner is showing more attention to one of his/her other partners then you either don't trust them enough to understand and realize that they love you the same way.

~~~~~Commercial:  People love people in different ways.  I might love being cuddled and smothered and you might love your personal space and freedom.  Now, most people express their love in the same fashion that they expect and desire to be loved.  Person A won't recognize that Person B loves them because their ways of expressing it are different.  This obviously doesn't work in most relationships, especially with the above two examples.  I think that people need to understand and really grasp the fact that everyone is different and thus everyone loves differently.~~~~~

Back from commercial break:  In that same breath if you see someone loving another in the way that you wished to be loved then simply say so.  What a lot of people fail to realize is that open communication opens many, MANY more doors than it closes, but that's a whole nother discussion by itself.

Anyways, I have more to say on the topic but I'm bored with this post and this Ciroc is making me feel a leeeeeetle sleazy soooo if you're in a serious monogamous relationship and you've ever wondered what it would be like to love someone else while still remaining in a relationship with your partner then stop settling and stop restraining your happiness.  Polyamory just might be for you if you're emotionally mature and evolved enough for it.

Loving another human being should never be restricted as long as you're honest, upfront and not a pedophile. :)

It never fails to amaze me that people think so differently from me, lol.

So, I'd like to think of myself as a pretty open and friendly person. Its extremely rare that I cast ultimate judgment on someone and choose not to talk to them before I actually talk to them. I don't care if you are fem, fat, thug, prep, goth, masc, discreet, DL or any other label, because everyone is different, right? You can't simply type cast someone before getting to know them in someway, right?

I always wondered what process a lot of people went through in their heads before deciding not to reply to someone simply based on their profile and/or pictures. I think its because its so different from how I accept/view people that it interest me so.

Granted, the majority of people on this site AREN'T looking for friends at all, BUT is the majority really THAT judgmental that they don't accept fem or fat guys as friends at all? (those two are the most common stipulations I see)

Like, I sit and really wonder if people are truly THAT closed-minded that they wouldn't even consider associating with someone that either was identified as that label.
Of course, I understand and support that everyone is their own person and has the right to accept or not accept who they want as a friend, but my question is always: Why not?

DL/Discreet men have always baffled and intrigued me, as well as brought up feelings of pity and remorse. Firstly, I hold nothing against those people who decided to live in the closet in no way shape or form (unless they are ignorant, judgemental and/or uneducated).

I always wondered that if you are supporting yourself (i.e. have a career, own home, own car, etc., etc.) then why be in the closet? O.o
That really confuses me. I mean, the only reason I would ever consider being in the closet was if my life was in danger or if coming out would directly threaten my living conditions (i.e. make me homeless or destitute).

So if you are 30+ yrs. old and independent, what is your reasoning for being discreet/DL? No one is saying that every gay man should parade and skip around in a rainbow colored thong with pom-poms, but I think everyone should be comfortably open with their sexuality. And if being in the closet to the general populace is what makes you comfortable, then why is that? Again, this is not me casting judgment, just trying to get some differing views, opinions and reasons so I can understand better.

I could speculate and guess all day, but I won't because they might cause offense, lol...


Ah, what the hell:

1. Is it because you don't feel it is anyone else's business? Granted it isn't, but what does that REALLY have to do with the reasoning?  That is simply an excuse of an excuse because there is always another, more meaningful underlying reason.

2. Are you worried about how others might view you if they knew your sexual orientation? Maybe you don't want to be clumped into a general label with all other gay guys? If so, why not come out and show the world you are unique?

3. Are you not comfortable with your own sexuality?

There are so many other possibilities since everyone's reasoning is different. >.<

I despise jaded people.  I can't tell if people are simply cowards or prejudiced.  I don't ever think I'll become either of those two (life is too short), but I am finding myself becoming increasingly jaded...  Or just irritated.

Hmmm...  I'm starting to find these types of sites a little bleak.  I've found that either; A: You're stalked and harassed by people only looking for sex (no offense to you guys, just not my preference) or, B: You find someone you think is interesting only find that a lot of people into this 'internet dating/finding each other thing' are too jaded or afraid to really try to make a connection with someone.

I think I'm ready to have an open mind now.

From my stand point, isn't the whole gist of this 'internet dating'  to -- Ah, let me stop before I start ranting...
