My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
After years abroad and on the campaign trail, I'm ready to be back in the Cities.

I'm happiest when I'm gardening, playing ultimate frisbee, hopping onto chicken buses, finding new brunch places, exploring, surf fishing, and listening to hot jams cruising in my Honda Civic. Or podcasts. Or NPR. I range from Lil Jon to Fresh Air because Terry Gross knows whats up.

One time I willed a rainbow into being. Another time I encountered strange beekeepers in the high desert of Bolivia. I also got thrown off a sailboat and lived in a shantytown on the edge of the Emerald Sea. The captain was a prick. People, don't go sailing with captains you don't know for extended periods of time off the coast of Africa!

I was blessed by a gypsy who gave me a magic coffee bean. It stayed in my wallet until I got into politics and then I lost it.

I standardized honey for the state of Wisconsin. Impressive, I know.

My people come from the mountain right next to Walton's Mountain. There's a cemetery on top of that mountain where I'm related to everyone buried there. There's also a cemetery in Switzerland where I'm related to everyone too. So, you know, options!

I can pick out Southern accents by state, but mine is so far gone that I sound like I'm from California.

My favorite country is Spain although Greece wins awards for best lounging. But seriously, drinking cañas and eating tapas at 2 pm on a weekday is pretty much my Platonic ideal of how to spend my workweek.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Moving back to the Cities after 10 years away. Grad school beckons. Really, I just need to escape electoral politics and grad school lets me press that career reset button.

Going to Greece for a while first so I'll probably roll into the Cities sometime in the summer.

2013- 2014 I was the Director of the House Caucus in Ohio (in Columbus). It was an awful, awful job and I decided to leave it and come back to Wisconsin to be close to family. I came home via Budapest.

In 2012 I worked the Obama campaign in Northeast Ohio.

In 2011 I took a 6 month trip through Europe and Africa (mostly Madagascar, I was drowning in lemurs.)

In 2010 I was running a campaign for a democratic State Assemblyman. Long hours and conference calls every night heyo!

I went on a six month long roadtrip through Latin America in 2007 to find the end of the earth. (Found it, lots of fluffy bunnies EVERYWHERE)

Before that I was a Team Leader with AmeriCorps*NCCC which basically meant I did a lot of paperwork and resolved a lot of conflicts while doing lots of disaster relief in New Orleans and Mississippi.

Apparently this is also my resume.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Picking out patterns in life.
Driving in South American traffic.
Packing up and hitting the road.
I'm very good with string.

Apparently, according to the temp agency I worked for in Austin, TX, I'm really good at data entry. Awesome.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books and authors that I can always go back to:
The Wind in the Willows, Gaiman, Pratchett, Le Guin, L'Engle, Lloyd Alexander, Tolstoy, Putnam, Jared Diamond, Gibson, Stephenson, Steinbeck, Argh Argh Martin, and Calvin & Hobbes.

Movies:
All the good ones, You know the ones.

One time in Guayaquil I went to see Transformers about 5 times because I'm so moved by the ranges of Megan Fox & Shia LaBoeuf. And it was air conditioned. Another time I went by myself to see Jacques Tati's Playtime in one of those hipster cinemas. You know the type.
So basically my tastes fall somewhere on the Transformers - Playtime spectrum.

Shows:
Whedon shows, Pete & Pete, Justified, The Americans, ADVENTURE TIME!!!!!!!!!!, Bob's Burgers, The Office(s), Korra, The Last Airbender, Orange is the New Black, Lost, X-Files, Battlestar Galactica, Portlandia, Game of Thrones, The Bridge, Silicon Valley, Colbert Report, anything with John Oliver who obviously should have taken over the Daily Show. Oh and Reading Rainbow because I can go anywhere.

Music:
Loving the new Sufjan Stevens and oh my god can we talk about fun Courtney Barnett is?
Recently: The War on Drugs, Fleet Foxes, Real Estate, Mala Rodriguez, Cloud Nothings, Mogwai, Gillian Welch

My favorite DJ is Nic Harcourt and if you know who that is please contact me immediately.

Podcasts: Serial, The Bugle, This American Life, Radiolab, the Moth, Savage Lovecast, Fresh Air.

Here are the foods I don't like:

Cooked brussels sprouts.
Cooked spinach.
Cooked cauliflower.
I will, however, eat these raw. Except the brussels sprouts, they can go to hell.

And yes people I know roasted brussels sprouts with olive oil are better but a man has got to have a code.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Music, Kites, Family, Mountains, Beaches, Books
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How I'm going to afford to drive the Mongol Rally.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Out at the bars or relaxing with friends. Movies are always good. As are late night drives listening to music.

One of my super close friends Molly once yelled at me while we were talking about relationships, "Sean, you know what you need? You need a pistol!" So yeah, if you're a pistol.
