I am passionate, liberated, and hilarious.

My Self-Summary

I can't deny that I am a sucker for thought, thought process, and any critical dialogue destined to be had. If you're a thinker, then i might fall in love with you. I tend to do that a lot. =) I embody words of poets who swing from grapevines and live in the trees. Those who speak from the heart and draw pictures for me in crayola like the tops of ancient ruins that speak my ancestral histories. I fell in love with my ancestry when I heard we came from a lineage of warrior women.

I am a writer, performer, lover, best friend, queer, thinker, feminist, non monogamist, artist, musician, scrabble player, teacher, student, aspiring film maker, baker, and vegetarian. I have many tattoos. This is one of them:
In your light, I learn how to love,
In your light, how to write poems
You dance inside my chest where no one sees you
But sometimes i do and that light becomes this art.
- Rumi

I am someone that loves to just chill and always down to try something new. I have been skydiving seven times, I got the itch to travel the world, bad, and I have a fascination with body art. I moved to Denver last August from California and while I desperately long for the ocean, I do love the mountains.

I don't really believe in monogamy. I am not entirely sure how I feel about the term "polyamorous" as a label, but I really believe polyamory/non monogamy/sluthood might be the key to the revolution. =)

What I’m doing with my life

That's always a hard question because there is always the shit I want to be doing versus the shit I am actually doing. I do teen dating violence education with teens in the Denver area. I also teach Women's Studies at Metro State. I love my jobs. I am good at them. But I have a deeper desire to be living a simple life, on the ocean somewhere, mostly wish I was living in Costa Rica soaking up the sun.

I’m really good at

playing scrabble, playing music, being queer, writing poetry, working with teens, feminism, falling in love, listening, caring, being spontaneous, being adventurous, traveling, parallel parking, drinking beer, making jokes and laughing at them.

The first things people usually notice about me

my earrings and tattoos.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books currently on my shelf: Borderlands/La Frontera by Gloria Anzaldua, My Father was a Toltec and the Mixihuala Letters by Ana Castillo, This Bridge Called My Back, Pedagogy of the Oppressed, Toltec Dreaming, The I-Ching, the True Blood books, The Bourne Identity, Walter Mosleys Devil in a Blue Dress, Edgar Allan Poe, Dante, The Last Time i Wore a Dress, a lot of Herman Hesse books, a lot of Rumi and Hafiz books, Colonize This!, Redefining Our Relationships and The Ethical Slut.

In terms of music: because I have loved them since I was 13, Green Day always tops my list, Manu Chao, Iron & Wine, bluegrass music, Calexico, Kimya Dawson, Saul Williams, Jarabe de Palo, Jeremy Styles, That Mad Ahab, Pistolera, The Glossines, Bunky, The Specials, Mystic, Zap Mama, Save Ferris, Quetzal, Ozomatli, Spearhead, old school BEP, Common, Jurrassic 5, Digable Planets, Matt & Kim, Moldy Peaches, Charistmatic Mega Fauna, Sani, Jevoha's Fitness, Blackalicious, Jill Scott, Elliot Smith, The Kinks, any Wes Anderson movie soundtrack, Modest Mouse, Postal Service, Death, Jamaican Ska, Girl in a Coma, Miss Derringer, Julie Ruin, Bikini Kill. I pretty much like anything that speaks to my soul.

Movies: I have a obsession with blood and guts, gangster movies, horror and sci fi. Feel good flicks make me gag unless they are 80s romantic comedies. Horror movies that take the cake for me are The Shining, Halloween (original John Carpenter), The Exorcist and Susperia. I enjoy slapstick type of comedies like Harold & Kumar, Superbad, Super Troopers, Wet Hot American Summer, etc. and I have always been a serious Robert Rodriguez fan.

I truly believe the first two Terminators represent some of the best sci fi ever made, I know that's a bold statement.

And finally, here is my Wes Anderson Breakdown from top favorite to least favorite: The Royal Tenenbaums, Rushmore, The Life Aquatic, Darjeeling Limited, Bottle Rocket.

The six things I could never do without

the ocean, community, my record player, my dog max, queers, and love.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

the universe, what I am meant to be doing in this world, non monogamy, revolution, my best friends back home, my mother and father, liberation, queerness, movies, poetry, spirituality, self sacrifice, survival, happiness.

On a typical Friday night I am

going with the flow.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I sleep with my socks on. Even in the middle of the summer.

You should message me if

you want to kick it sometime?
