I am musical, romantic, and laid-back.

My Self-Summary

I'm 20 years old and nearly done with my Bachelor's degree. I love music, movies and above all else, reading and musicals. I used to play a lot of video games, but lately have lacked the time and interest. I like being outdoors and going for walks, ice-skating, and playing in the snow. Fall and winter are my favourite times of year and I'd much rather be cold than hot. I don't think I'll ever be able to live somewhere without snow. I like to travel and I love learning about different cultures.

I'm not perfect, and I don't expect you to be. I procrastinate, my room is a mess, and I tend to do my homework at the last minute, whether that's the night before at 11pm or at 4am the morning of. I have opinions and I'm not afraid to voice them. I'm passionate about a lot of things, and I can go off half-cocked on something without realising that I'm being incredibly ridiculous until someone reminds me.

I'm going to go ahead and put this in here, because lately I've been completely indundated with requests: I am NOT interested in getting together with a couple. I'd rather like a stable relationship of my own first.

I'm that girl that cares about everyone. You can call it mothering all you want, but I try to make sure that everyone's chef coats are ironed, homework is done, alarms are set, and they have a safe way to get to and from the bars on the weekend.

I love to laugh. If you can make me laugh myself into tears, I'll love you forever.

I'm a naturally curious person. I'd never invade someone's privacy by snooping through their stuff or anything like that, but if I get interested in something I latch on pretty well.

I love to cuddle and hold hands with someone, and I think that holding hands is one of the most intimate things two people can do. *nods* yes, I'm odd, I know.

I enjoy hot tea anytime, even in the dead of summertime.
I will NEVER drink iced tea, and in fact think it is an abomination to the beverage world.
Edit: I have also deemed Sweet Tea an abomination, and in fact a larger abomination than just regular iced tea.
But if you enjoy it, good for you.

I'm really very quirky, and my thoughts are usually all over the place and then some.

I used to not eat red meat, because I went to a slaughterhouse in high school on a field trip, watched cows get beaten around and killed, and saw poor baby cows stuffed into tiny cages. Now, I'm mostly past it because in college it was either learn to eat it agian or starve, and can tolerate it little by little.

I love musicals just about as much as I love to breathe. RENT is my number one favourite, although Chess, A Chorus Line, Wicked, Sweeney Todd, and Hairspray aren't far off.

I have one tattoo, of 'no day but today' between my shoulder blades. It's the very saying that I live my life by, and I'm immensely proud of it. I plan on 2 or 3 more tattoos, once I can afford them and can find a place to put them. My next one is going to say "Be love" across my wrist.

I'm also not such a huge fan of chocolate. I really have to be in the mood for it, although there's ALWAYS room for white chocolate. I'm more into fruit flavours.

What I'd really like, is a penpal. Some one to physically write letters to, its SUCH a lost art.

Now that I'm not in New England, I can admit my favourite sports teams without being afraid that someone will murder me in my bed:

The Pittsburgh Steelers - Football
The New York Yankees - Baseball
Manchester United - Soccer
The Cleveland Cavaliers - Basketball
The Ohio State Buckeyes - College Football

Note: I'm not a fanatic. These are the teams I grew up watching and rooting for. I don't get mad if I miss a game, I won't check the scores and stats every hour, and I hate having to defend my choice in teams. It gets old.

What I’m doing with my life

I attended a culinary school in Vermont. I have my AoS in Baking and Pastry and I'm close to finished with my B.A. in Hospitality and Restaurant Management. My life's goal is to have my own bed and breakfast on the east coast, or someplace in Scotland, where I've been once and would love to go again.

I'm currently working as a restaurant supervisor here in Asheville.

I’m really good at

Baking XD. Besides that, I'm a fair singer and I absolutely love writing. I have a small collection of poems I've written, and I also dabble in a little bit of fanfiction. Nothing that's published, though, on the internet or otherwise.

I'm also apparently really good at being nice to people.

The first things people usually notice about me

My eyes, or so I've been told. And my mid-western accent that I've never been entirely convinced actually exists.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Ahh, this will be trouble.

My favourite books include: Harry Potter, The Inheritance Cycle, The Auralia Thread, The Oracle Glass, Without You: A Story of Love, Loss and the Musical RENT, The Legend of the Celtic Stone, An Ancient Strife, Great Expectations, The Great Gatsby, Pride and Prejudice, The Fire Rose, Sunset in St. Tropez, The Gift, Flowers in the Attic, Blackwood Farm, The Witching Hour, Christine, and many more.

EDIT: I've recently read 'Ophelia', by Lisa Klein. It is, as the name may suggest to some, the story of Hamlet told from Ophelia's point of view. I highly recommend it.
Also, 'I, Elizabeth' by Rosalind Miles, a story about Queen Elizabeth I.

My top three movies are RENT, Dead Poets Society, and Milk. Aside from that: Julie and Julia, A Clockwork Orange, The Queen, Pirates of the Caribbean, Spiderman, The Dark Knight, Indiana Jones, Requiem for a Dream, Eurotrip, Moulin Rouge, Boondock Saints, Trainspotting, The Princess Bride, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Clue, Casino, Anchorman, Hairspray, Hair, De-Lovely, Blow, 21, Across the Universe, A Chorus Line.

Music varies....I love anything from classical to alternative to classic rock to showtunes. Current favourites include: Led Zepplin, Metallica, Josh Groban, Jason Mraz, Celtic Woman, Pink Floyd, and the soundtracks from RENT and Chess.

Edit: Now that the first half of the Glee soundtrack is out, I'll be listening to it for a solid week or so.

I love all kinds of food, although I'm allergic to fish and shellfish.

Really allergic.

As in, if you feed me crab or tuna or salmon or shrimp, I will fall to the floor gasping for air because I can't breathe.

Specific favourites include mashed potatoes, ribs, turkey and stuffing, tacos, sweet corn, hot chocolate with a splash of french vanilla coffee creamer, pretzels, chicken paprikash(Hungarian chicken and dumplings), homemade potato and cheese pieroghies, veggie lasagna, beef stew, popcorn chicken, homemade french fries, warm, gooey chocolate chip cookies, caramel white chocolate mochas, and cherry limeaides.

Edit: Boeuf Bourguignon was a HUGE success. Absolutely effing delicious. It took forever, but it was so worth it.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

My stupid online classes that are going to slowly suck out my soul.

What culinary undertaking I'm going to take on next.

What's kind of hilarious people are going to come to the restaurant.

What kind of dog I should get once I get a real apartment that I don't rent through work.

What on earth some people are thinking when they open their mouths.

The fact that people should be required to re-take their driver's exam once they hit 70.

How many weird looks/rude comments I would get if I actually burst into song as many times as I've thought about it.

In general, everything. My mind moves a mile a minute.

On a typical Friday night I am

Usually working, and if not either at the gym, hanging out in the apartment, window shopping at the mall or downtown, or out for a lovely walk.

EDIT: It's almost time for our Christmas season to start, which means I'll be working close to every day.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm very afraid of being alone in the dark. I have to sleep with some form of a light on, and I will have a panic attack if I'm alone in a dark room for more than 5 minutes.

I'm also petrified of drains, especially the ones in the street. (That's what happens when you watch the move IT when you're 5).

I still have nightmares that will wake me up at 2am and keep me awake for hours (or days) and ruin my sleep patterns for weeks.

You should message me if

If you feel we have a lot in common and you want to talk. Intelligently, please.

Have some sense of originality. I'm tired of messages that just say "You sound interesting/fun/cool/whateverotheradjective".

I'm not going to respond to you if all you say is "hey wats up", if the first thing you tell me is "ur cute" or "ur hott" or anything else in regard to my physical appearance, and if you use too much chatspeak I'll disregard you completely.
