I am Intelligent, Eclectic, and Original.

My Self-Summary

I hate using labels to describe myself, although if you insist on describing me in one word I'd probably say nerd. I guess I should elaborate here, although you could probably guess without my help: Sci-fi and horror geek, LOTR, Star Wars, Simpsons, computer games. Nerdy enough for you? How about this: Sometimes when I'm bored I'll read old college textbooks that I still have, as well as build computers for fun. Scared you away yet?

Alright, maybe I'm not quite as big of a dork as I made myself out to be, but I had to give you a fair warning.

What I’m doing with my life

Currently doing pharmacology research at Pitt. Before that was molecular biology at Pitt. Not quite my cup of tea, since my major was in Ecology, but I gotta pay the bills.

I’m really good at

Impressing or annoying you with my treasure trove of useless knowledge that I tend to soak up like a sponge, even though I'm able to forget why I walked into a room just as easily. Damn dementia.

Fixing your computer.

Isolating DNA plasmids, which probably isn't all that useful for you, unless you have the urge to become some genetic hybrid.

The first things people usually notice about me

I don't know. That I like to wear a hat?

I tend to overdress for the occasion, but that's just to make up for having to wear a lab coat the rest of the time.

Other than that, you'd probably have to ask someone after they've met me for the first time, because they aren't telling me :P

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: I don't have much time to read for fun these days, but like my taste in music and movies, I enjoy a wide variety of genres. H.P. Lovecraft, Clive Barker, J.R.R. Tolkien, Hunter S. Thompson, Oscar Wilde, and assorted historical and political books. I was also the only one who enjoyed reading the assigned books in my high school english class, or at least the only one who'll admit it. Stuff like Wuthering Heights, Moby Dick, and The Last of the Mohicans. As a former comic book geek, I'll also take some of my comics out of their dusty old boxes occasionally.

Movies: I don't have the time right now to decide on a precise list of my favorite movies, so I'll just list some of the ones I own. They're not necessarily my favorite ones, but I thought I'd give you an idea of the variety of movies I like.

12 Monkeys, the Alien films, Black Hawk Down, Blade I and II, The Cell, Children of Men, A Clockwork Orange, Dark City, The Dark Crystal, The Doors, Dracula, Enemy at the Gates, Escape from New York, Equilibrium, The Evil Dead movies, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Fight Club, The Fountain, Gangs of New York, Hellraiser I and II, A History of Violence, House of 1000 Corpses, The Howling, The Iron Giant, Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back, The Last of the Mohicans, The Last Samurai, Legend, the LOTR trilogy, The Lost Boys, The Matrix trilogy, the Marx Brothers films, the Monty Python films, Old School, Pirates of the Caribbean, Patton, Predator, The Shawshank Redemption, Sin City, Sleepy Hollow, Spider-Man, the Star Wars films, There Will Be Blood, The Thing, Tombstone, UHF, V for Vendetta, X-Men, Zoolander, Zulu, and assorted Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan flicks when I feel like reminiscing about my black belt days.

I'm a ridiculous movie geek, to the point that I know tons of worthless trivia, even about movies that I've never seen. If Blockbuster was hiring someone to recommend movies for 50 grand a year, I'd be set.

Music:Pretty much anything depending on my mood. I suppose I can make a little list since I don't have anything else to do at the moment. Let's see: Alice In Chains, Andone, Bauhaus, Blur, Billy Idol, The Bravery, The Clash, Clear Static, Coldplay, Combichrist, The Cure, Danzig, Dead or Alive, Depeche Mode, The Doors, Duran Duran, The Faint, Franz Ferdinand, Head Automatica, Interpol, James Blunt, Jerry Lee Lewis(I kid you not), Joy Division, The Killers, Killing Joke, KMFDM, Korn, Lords of Acid, Megadeth, Metallica, Mindless Self Indulgence, Ministry, Misfits, Moby, Muse, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, New Order, Nine Inch Nails, Orgy, Pantera, A Perfect Circle, Peter Murphy, Pet Shop Boys, Pink Floyd, The Police, Prince, Prodigy, Public Image Ltd., Radiohead, Rammstein, Ramones, Sex Pistols, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Sisters of Mercy, Skinny Puppy, Slayer, Snake River Conspiracy, Spacehog, Tears for Fears, Thompson Twins, Tool, Type O Negative, White Zombie/Rob Zombie, and some random classical stuff when I'm in the mood for it.

The six things I could never do without

Other than the usual food, oxygen, etc., I'd say it has to be:

The internet, music, coffee, my dvd player, a good beer.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Things that I won't list here, lest you think that I'm totally insane.

Finding ways to insert the word "lest" into a sentence.

On a typical Friday night I am

Taking a ridiculously long nap after getting home from work, and then either going out for the evening or staying in and wasting time on the computer.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Hmm. That even though I stopped buying them years ago, I still have a few horror movie figures on display.

You should message me if

You haven't run away screaming after reading everything above :P

You're someone with similar interests, but I think that's pretty obvious.
