My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Akira Nighthorse is the name my father wanted to give me. Akira after Kurosawa and Nighthorse after a Native American gentleman he met at a medical conference in Denver. Hahahah. Needless to say, he did not get his wish. My name is Dave.

I am a displaced east coasted who moved to West Hollywood after having spent six years in Chicago. Now in Westwood. I'm curious about the huge influx of food out here, and about everything really.

I love music, film, good television and food. At the end of the day I believe I am a consumer of culture more than anything else.

I'm as happy staying home and marathoning with Netflix as I am going to a place with an extensive whiskey menu.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Finding adventure, food, great driving roads, working like a dog, and just trying to do it right.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Talking, self-deprication, and rolling with punches.

I love driving, cooking, writing, learning and exploring new restaurants & locales.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I am having a lot of trouble with this question.
I'm either in a shirt and tie or a ridiculous t-shirt.
I'm 6' 4" and have a somewhat deep voice.
I gesture a lot when I speak. I can speak at a mile a minute.
And yes, I do open doors for people.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
A few of my favorite books would be Amnesia Moon, American Gods, The Invisible Man (in this case Wells, not Ellison, I'm a huge Wells fan), 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and The Mysterious Island, The Namesake, A Study in Scarlet, Neuromancer, and well I could go on.

I love watching Breaking Bad, like a lot of other people but I also love Suits, Firefly, Misfits, Merlin, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Castle, hell, I'll admit I've seen every episode of Gossip Girl.

As far as film goes, I don't see nearly as many movies as I'd like because I work a lot and my friends in Chicago aren't really "movie people;" however, a few favorites include The Professional, The Fifth Element, Sunshine, Silver Linings Playbook, Scott Pilgrim vs The World, Star Trek, I mean, I'm a big JJ Abrams fan in general. Synecdoche, New York is up there for me. Out here in LA, all my friends are movie/television folks and so I tend to see more movies (but rarely get to choose!)

Music is a big part of my identity, as I believe it should be. I went to highschool with a kid who actively disliked music. I could not understand that.

I am a huge David Bowie fan, love him. I like a lot of jazz and I have a huge amount of respect for the great american songbook and so I listen to a lot of The Rat Pack, I'm really falling for Sammy Davis Jr these days. Carmen McRae gets spun a lot too, I think she might be the greatest female voice to come to music. On contemporary music, I love Bloc Party's first album, and the Arctic Monkeys and Muse. Basically, if it's English, good and has guitars I'm in. Pink Floyd goes without saying.

But I also like a lot of the really lyrical, interesting hip hop that's out there, like Childish Gambino or Macklemore. I love Aesop Rock, he's an incredible lyricist. So is Saul Williams.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Aside from the usual family and friends:
My Kitchen,
My car,
My iPod,
Netflix/Hulu Plus,
and sriracha.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
My future, my friends and family, what to learn about next, what book to read, what movie to see next, traveling and how my little sister is doing in China.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Taking it relatively easy.
I usually reserve fridays for dinners, movies or small-time adventures, nothing hugely ambitious. I'm not used to having weekends free; my last job had me working every Saturday for most of the last four and a half years.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Just go ahead and ask. Hahah.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You're okay with someone who doesn't take themselves too seriously but has their moments, you have at least a mild sense of adventure and some ambition, you share a love for fine and/or interesting foods, and maybe enjoy holding hands.
