What I’m doing with my life
Aside from simply working at my profession as an IT geek and looking forward to what the future might hold, I am beginning classes this year to eventually obtain a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing (with a focus on fiction). I have always enjoyed writing and have decided to pursue it more seriously in the last several years, and decided to pursue a degree in something I enjoy.

In addition to that I'm simply living life, working, and raising my daughter to be a responsible, well rounded individual. I have decided to get back to my roots and begin camping and hiking once again this summer, as well as getting back into golf, which is something I've always enjoyed (but am admittedly not very good at).
I’m really good at
Playing the guitar. Yea, I know... most of the time people hear that and think to themselves "yea, right" and are then treated to something that sounds like fingernails being raked down a chalkboard. But, I actually can play, and have been in several bands in my time (some that actually made money!). I haven't played seriously in a few years though, and will admit I've gotten a bit rusty.

I have also been told by many people I'm good at writing. While I don't know that I'd say that I am myself, enough people seem to enjoy reading what I write that there must be something there. That has brought back an old desire I've had to write, and it has produced the rough drafts of two novels so far.

I would say that I'm good at listening, and genuinely considering someone else's perspective on things, even if (and sometimes specifically because) they are opposite of my own ideas and perspectives.

I'm also good at learning. I love to learn about new things, or start new hobbies and experiment with different ideas. I spend great amounts of time reading about things I'm interested in, and spend the time to learn about them. One of my recent interests is in home brewing, which as of this writing has culminated in my first two home brew batches (which were delicious).
The first things people usually notice about me
Honestly, that I tend to be somewhat quiet and introspective. I do loosen up once I've had the chance to talk to someone a bit.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love to read, so I have far too many books to name here... I'll name some of my favorite authors instead: Tolkien, Eddings, Williams, Arthur C. Clark, Carl Sagan, Bradbury, Heinlein, Asimov, P.K. Dick, Lovecraft, King, Koontz, Burroughs, and Howard to name a few.

My taste in movies is similar... I tend to enjoy a lot of science fiction and some fantasy, but only if it's good (2001: A Space Odyssey is one of my all time favorite movies). Historical fiction is another genre I enjoy as well. I like horror movies, but not slasher types... good quality horror like Alien for example. Good dramas are a genre I like as well. I can take or leave comedies, and I'm sorry... but I don't normally like watching the proverbial "chick flick."

I rarely ever watch T.V., as there's little on that really interests me enough to want to sit in front of it for very long. Most of the shows I do watch (when I do) are Discovery shows... things like From Earth to the Moon, or Suvivorman. I normally don't watch much reality T.V at all.

As far as music goes, I really like New Age type of stuff, like Tangerine Dream. Really good movie soundtracks I like as well. I'm an '80's guy, so metal and hair band rock are my favorite to listen to when I have the desire. I enjoy classical music as well, but I don't really care for hardcore rap or country.

Since I have a food allergy, I really haven't delved as much as most other people into foods unfortunately. I guess I'd say I'm a "meat and potatoes" guy, but that's not all... I do like seafood and mexican foods.
The six things I could never do without
My Reason and ability to think for myself.
My computer and laptop.
Books... lots of books.
My car.
My job.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Far too much. I think about the state of the world, of our society, of people in general, and wonder where current events will lead us in the future. I think about the next plot device in the book I'm currently revising (and hope to self publish). I'm very interested in space exploration, so I sometimes wonder what it would be like - right now - if one were standing on the moon, or mars... what one would see, or feel. I spend a lot of time thinking about where my life is going, and where I want it to go.

I also think a lot about you, where you are, and when I'll finally meet you. I think about how that meeting will happen, and what it will be like, and how things will progress between us as we get to know one another.
On a typical Friday night I am
Usually at home watching movies, or playing on my computer. I don't know many people here, so I don't usually spend a lot of time out and about.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Eh... I'll tell you later. Maybe.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 30–45
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating
You should message me if
You actually read through my entire profile... and are intrigued by what you've read. You're actually interested in starting a conversation with someone, and looking to see where that conversation might go. You can write me a message that's longer than "Hi," or "How are you," and are willing to put a little risk in speaking to someone new and seeing where it might lead.
