My self-summary
I consider myself easy going and non-confrontational.

I also am pretty open; I like to share my interests, and conversely, want to involve myself with the interests of other people. I love to try new things.

I love to talk about politics and current events, especially world affairs. I value someone who can disagree with me but also discuss it with me without getting offended or upset.

I also love to play board games of just about any kind. My friends are all into board games and role playing games and I just find them a lot of fun. I'm not as much for bars and dance clubs - but again, I always like doing things I don't normally do to 'change things up' :). Variety is the spice of life.
What I’m doing with my life
I just finished my M.S. degree at Purdue University in Chemistry.

For the summer, I am teaching at a community college in Springfield, IL; as an adjunct faculty. My plan is to find either a community college or a four year college with which I can obtain a tenure track full time teaching position. Luckily I have a lot of teaching experience, so I am optimistic in finding one soon! Maybe even by the Fall of 14, which would be great.
I’m really good at
Taking tests. I've a mind for academics, too. I suppose because I'm into board games so much, I'm good at learning 'new systems' and 'new sets of rules' relatively quickly just by practice.

I'm also good at being sarcastic. Its very much a part of my humor.
The first things people usually notice about me
That I'm smart; which I think is mainly due to my academic accomplishments.

But I think anyone can get a college degree in whatever they want; they just have to be persistent. :)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books - Authors - Rowling, Koontz, Wiehl, Salvatore, Silva, Byers, Gaskell, Tolstoy.. tastes are kinda all over.

Movies - All kinds. Failsafe and Spy Who Came In From The Cold, for older fare. Star Wars and Lord of the Rings for mainstream modern. All genres. Really there's too many to name. Needless to say, I'm a movie buff.

Shows - Babylon 5 lately; Star Trek, Once Upon A Time, Agents of SHEILD. Again, too many to name.

Music - Jazz, light rock, classic.

Food - All kinds of food; but I especially love spicy things. Anything Italian is great too.
The six things I could never do without
1) Books

2) Movies

3) Internet

4) Diet Soda

5) Treadmills (during winter)

6) Good Food.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What fun things I'm going to do on the next weekend.
On a typical Friday night I am
Seeing a movie with my family. Or hanging out with friends; playing board games, card games, video games.. checking out shows. Generally laid back things, though I'd like to try something more active and more exciting sometime, too.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I actually like physics and math more than chemistry and have minor regrets about it. But, there are plenty of jobs out there in chemistry, so... I shouldn't complain!
You should message me if
you'd like to talk or hang out.
