Geneseo, New York
I figured I'd post a poem I wrote recently here, because I think
its appropriate for this particular context. I wrote it for a
friend who has trouble seeing themselves for what they truly are,
which is beautiful. I think that a big part of dating sites is
getting people to recognize the beauty within ourselves, but that
only works if WE see it first. Here's to hoping all of you see
it.
The Sad Laws of Nature
How do you show a rainbow its vibrance?
Or fire its urgent ardency?
How do you capture the sound of a stream,
and set it to music so the water dances?
How do you write a friend's soul,
in the language of your smile?
Why does the rainbow fade into dusk,
and the fire lose the confidence of its argument?
Why does the stream, deaf to its own chords,
falter in step, and stagnate to mud?
Why can't your friend understand you,
and reflect your smile in the mirror?
