Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Recently, I was contemplating the tortuous (or is it torturous?)
world of online dating, and came to some revelations about what I'm
looking for. When it comes to romance, what I want was best summed
up by Logan Echolls (please message me if you didn't have to look
up that name):
"[O]ur story was epic, you know. You and me. Spanning years and
continents. Lives ruined and blood shed. Epic."
So, yeah, in the end that's what I want. Call me crazy, but I want
to be able to say, that.
So I figure the best start is to invite people to start sharing
things that I enjoy about life--things that could become a part of
that kind of journey. If you're interested, please read on.
*I've just switched jobs and moved to NorCal, but looking over my
profile, it's still pretty accurate.*
I hail from the alpine wilderness of Colorado, where I spent the
first 23 years of my life before moving away, spent the next 3 and
half or so in Michigan (horrid place), before finally moving to
SoCal in 2011.
I studied a lot of physics and a bit of cell biology and
biochemistry in school, but it's weird--I think that I've learned
more about the field and the phenomenon of science since I started
teaching it to middle school kids. I love teaching, and it's given
me some of the most rewarding experiences that I've ever had.
I work very hard at being a good listener, who can genuinely
sympathize without offering unsolicited advice. I had a friend do
this for me when I was going through a rough patch, and it's the
kind of thing that I want to be able to do for other people.
I really like swords. I include one with my Halloween costume every
year. Right now, I think my favorite is the Roman Spatha I got for
this last Halloween. See my pictures for details.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Teaching science is my passion. I've spent the last few years
teaching middle school science, but I'm going to be teaching high
school physics next year. I'm excited to get into the more advanced
concepts and mathematics again.
In my free time:
Hitting baseballs at the batting cages, scrambling up a rock wall,
swimming in the Pacific, hill sprints (yeah, that one is more
painful than fun), and snowboarding on the weekends in the
At the same time, I enjoy having intellectual conversations about
things like science, history, education, and just about anything
else (energy and environment is a really fun topic). I like both
the aspects of teaching and of learning, so I'm just as happy to
talk with someone who knows more as with someone who knows
Finally, I spend a fair amount of time geeking out. I really enjoy
fantasy novels: Brandon Sanderson is the man, and I would love to
talk about his books. I also will occasionally go on a video game
kick--lately it's been The Witcher 3.
So if you share or would like to share some of the things I enjoy,
feel free to hit me up (or more likely respond to me when I send
you a message.)
*As of July 2015, I now live in San Jose, so if you want to show me
a good climbing gym or batting cage, let me know*

I have lopsided dimples when I smile. I've also been told many
times that I look like Brendan Fraiser.
