My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I hail from the alpine wilderness of Colorado, where I spent the first 23 years of my life before moving away, spent the next 3 and half or so in Michigan (horrid place), before finally moving to SoCal in 2011.

I studied a lot of physics and a bit of cell biology and biochemistry in school, but it's weird--I think that I've learned more about the field and the phenomenon of science since I started teaching it to middle school kids. I love teaching, and it's given me some of the most rewarding experiences that I've ever had.

I work very hard at being a good listener, who can genuinely sympathize without offering unsolicited advice. I had a friend do this for me when I was going through a rough patch, and it's the kind of thing that I want to be able to do for other people.

I really like swords. I include one with my Halloween costume every year. Right now, I think my favorite is the Roman Spatha I got for this last Halloween. See pictures for details

What do I find attractive? Well, I guess that I just want it all. I want to find someone with whom to share some of my "after school activities." Hitting baseballs at the batting cages, scrambling up a rock wall, swimming in the Pacific, hill sprints (yeah, that one is more painful than fun), and snowboarding (at least once the snow starts at Big Bear).

At the same time, I enjoy having intellectual conversations about things like science, history, education, and just about anything else (energy and environment is a really fun topic). I like both the aspects of teaching and of learning, so I'm just as happy to talk with someone who knows more as with someone who knows less.

Finally, I would like having someone to geek out with. I really enjoy fantasy novels: Brandon Sanderson is the man, and I would love to talk about his books. I also will occasionally go on a video game kick--lately it's been Dragon Age and Mass Effect.

So if you share or would like to share some of the things I enjoy, feel free to hit me up (or more likely respond to me when I send you a message.)
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Teaching science, thinking about what I want to teach in science, making materials to help me teach science, teaching a math class, a writing class, and being a homeroom teacher to 6th graders.

In my free time--listening to fantasy books on Audible, watching netflix, bouldering, batting cages, and sometimes playing video games.

I also sometimes sing to myself when I'm walking around in public.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.

I have lopsided dimples when I smile. I've also been told many times that I look like Brendan Fraiser.

I make a religious attempt to go to the batting cages every Friday. After that, it varies. Maybe drinks at Stadium Brewery with my friends, maybe a bit of work if I'm very busy, and maybe some Netflix or video games if I want an evening alone.

I like a lot of Taylor Swift songs.
