My self-summary
I work a lot, and as such don't often get a chance to meet new people...which is why I ended up here!

- I love to travel, both for work and personal exploration, and can often be found with a camera in my hand.

- I've lived in NYC for 8 years now and have a hard time imagining living anywhere else. Close, runner-up cities include: Montreal, Chicago, San Francisco, Denver, and Austin.

- I enjoy getting tattooed (though I only have two, due to will-power) and pierced (9 of those...less will-power...)

- I drink coffee. A lot of it.

- I love camping, hiking, SCUBA diving, and rock climbing...and don't do any of those activities nearly enough.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a sound designer working primarily in theater but also in other forms of live performance - live music, dance, etc. My work is my passion and I consider myself very lucky to be doing what I do. Too few people get to explore their passion and make it their living.
I’m really good at
using ellipses....really good at that. I'd like to think I have a decently quick wit and am a good conversationalist.

I'm NOT good at compartmentalizing relationships the way OKCupid would like me to. Too often, I'll answer a question with the "most right" answer, but there is always a grey area - different situations and different people would influence those answers in different directions. Does that make sense? Basically, if I were given a dollar every time I clicked "somewhat important"....well, I'd be rich.
The first things people usually notice about me
Oh, probably the septum piercing....for better or worse.

Correction: Now that the beard is back in full force, I get a lot of "Ooo, I really like....this" (as they make..."beard" gestures, I suppose)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I enjoy Wired, GQ, American Photo, and Inked magazines. Books I've read recently and enjoyed: The Dream of Perpetual Motion, Life by Keith Richards, and I'm currently reading Tenth of December by George Saunders.

I enjoy movies of many types (I'm a sucker for a romantic comedy - Crazy Stupid Love? I mean, c'mon, so great.) and TV shows that have a more cinematic arc to them (True Blood, LOST, Fringe) though one-stop laughs are totally acceptable too - Family Guy!

Food...that's a longer list. I love sushi, really good steaks, and chocolate...but those are the special occasion foods. I enjoy eating healthy and how eating healthy makes me feel. Salads, noodles, Westerly Market on 54th and 8th.

Music is perhaps the longest list. While I do listen to a lot of different types of music, the current trends are everything from Skrillex, Death Cab For Cutie (I'm wayyy late on that bandwagon), Childish Gambino, old Punk-o-Rama compilations, and newer pop-hipster stuff (Foster the People, Passion Pit, Jukebox the Ghost). All-time favourites include the Dresden Dolls, Ani Difranco, Rilo Kiley. I've recently re-discovered the older stuff by the Barenaked Ladies. Watch the Throne by Jay-Z and Kanye, Tegan and Sara, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Deadmau5, Lyle Lovett, Dolly Parton, and most anything involving Jack White.

Songs currently on repeat in my life:
Unworry - Ani Difranco
What Sarah Said - Death Cab
Harvey - Heather Christian
The six things I could never do without
1. iPhone
2. Sunglasses
3. Good food/wine
4. Conversations over cups of coffee.
5. Travel and exploration
6. A camera
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Efficiency: how to streamline systems, economy of movement. Blame an over-active left side of my brain.
On a typical Friday night I am
Working till 11p, then it's time to go out!

...Or it's time to go home and keep doing work.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I really really enjoy bad pop songs. Especially in the morning, pre-coffee.

If the only combination better than warm molten chocolate cake and a big red wine...is warm molten chocolate cake and a good whiskey.
