I've been living in Astoria for the past three years, returning
home to NY after the obligatory stint-in-LA experiment. When the
elder Greeks of the area learned my last name had 12 letter, five
syllables, and more vowels than consonants, the locals were quick
to accept me and my transition to Astoria was complete (at least
for baklava purposes, anyway).
I like traveling (did a 10-day road trip through Ireland this past summer), playing pick-up basketball on the mean streets of Queens, putting things in parentheses (still paying attention?), and the occasional poker game. When I can, I like to go try new restaurants, which I deem "work-related research" (see below) so I can write off the tabs at tax time (Does the IRS check OKCupid? Okay, good.). I also tend to believe in treating people as you want to be treated. I think I learned that from my second grade teacher.
