I am clever, bookish, and hirsute.

My Self-Summary

I've recently graduated college and have been working as an archaeologist...which I love and hate. In my spare time I like to draw, read, or just sit and think (wow I'm starting to bore even myself). I play some instruments (poorly) and sing in a punk band called "Leather".
I once said, in all sincerity, "I think the only reason I liked the movie Beerfest was because I like Mo'nique sooo much."
I've been hit by cars a handful of times and have some fake teeth and a slightly more belligerent attitude toward drivers as a result.

What I’m doing with my life

Ever since I was about 4 years old I've had an extremely vivid image of myself as an old, old man with a long white beard, possibly standing next to a goat. Everything in between here and there is a lot more hazy.
One mid-range goal is to improve my fluency in French, so if you'd like to practice too don't hesitate in messaging me.

I’m really good at

Doodling, rocking till I bleed (not actually a joke), making sarcastic or pithy comments, being actually helpful in time of need.

The first things people usually notice about me

Ah, the space where I get to be either unbearably vain or awkwardly self-aware. Yeah no thanks. Anyway you'll figure this out yourself if we meet.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

My favorite books of all time are the Gormenghast novels by Mervyn Peake; I also like books by Annie Proulx, Alexander Solzhenitsyn, Jerzy Kosinski and Patrick O'Brian among others. I also read comics, not so much superheroes as things like R. Crumb, Dan Clowes, Jim Woodring and so on.

Some movies I think are of crucial importance to the modern world: Wet Hot American Summer, The Holy Mountain, Time Bandits, Come and See

The Dead Milkmen, Fugazi, David Bowie, Pixies and Brian Eno have all been important to me at one time or another. Mostly I like punk and classical music but I'm not about to discount any entire genres out of hand.

Reuben sandwiches are obviously the most perfect food ever devised but I gave them up for a life of vegetarian virtue.

The six things I could never do without

I've found I can do without just about anything except my friends.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Girls, lyrics or new ideas for drawings, what books I want to read next, all the tattoos I'm saving up for. Everything, really. With all the time I've spent brooding it's really a shame I don't smoke cigarettes.

On a typical Friday night I am

Out with friends or at a show if I've managed to stay up past 9:30 (grueling labor is a real drag).

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I spent a lot of time in middle school reading books about wizards and goblins. And I do mean A Lot of time.

You should message me if

If you're thing bleak Eastern European novels, the Four Humors, Pleistocene megafauna, and the idea of a dog driving a car are all equally great.
