My Self-Summary

Hello and welcome.

I'm a man trying to regain his balance. The best parts of my past, and a portion of my present, have been full to the brim with games, learning, many dear friends, active imagination, uninhibited geekery, a fearless love, and the vicarious thrill of fiction. My memories are fond, but sometimes you choose to change, and sometimes change chooses you.

Everyone I have known can speak of the pieces to their existence that they experience with love, hate, and everything in between. I have brought health, music, a degree of mindfulness and a measure of discipline into my life; all very satisfying to me personally. The cost has been in the drifting away of many friends and a struggle to hold on to my gains in the face of lifelong habits that have brought me very short lived happiness and long term dissatisfaction.

Currently, things are going well.

I am at times, however, at a loss for where to proceed. So like a message in a bottle I cast out this open letter in the earnest hope that you, the reader, might like to engage with me in the pursuit of discovering meaning amidst the complexities of being.

You may wish to know that I particularly enjoy playing shakuhachi, group exercise, bicycling, board games, walking, reading, drinks of all sorts, and kibitzing on a wide variety of topics. Dance is an activity that I enjoy purely theoretically, but I am somewhat eager to learn.

Sharing with others is, to me, the valuable context of life, and my criteria for relationships is therefore straightforward. If sharing a thought, an experience, a meal, or a day, whether simple or complex, might bring each of us a smile then by all means send a note, and I shall do the same.

Cheers!
Alexander
