My self-summary Propose an edit

That stupid flash based chat crashes my browser almost every time its used and the only reason its active is that the IM status panel never finishes loading to the point where I can turn the bastard off. If you'd like to say hello, feel free to email me.

"I can't see you obviously but I bet you've all got smashing blouses on." (If you know where that's from, good one!)

'Spose I'm a creative weirdo, interested in photography, writing and metal music. Also interested in heaps of other musical styles, I've got cheesy 80s, GWAR, natalie imbruglia and soilwork in the one playlist. I don't like pina coladas but I don't mind being caught in the rain (I really should turn winamp off when writing). I'm reasonably well read, I'm fairly into sci-fi and modern adult themed cartoons, particularly Futurama (for the first time ever I was the exact target demographic) and Family Guy (although that's rapidly dropping from my favourites list). I like chess and pool but it's been many a year since I played either. I like computer games as well and yes, my brain and soul have been consumed by that devils work, "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas", woe is me, if only I could disavow responsibility for my own actions through a government inquiry...

What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit

Well, I'm not dead yet... Is that good?

I am now officially no longer an unemployed bum, I'm now a scumbag student! Working on a Degree in IT network management, parts of it I could do in a coma and other parts may end up making my brain explode though I think I'm getting the hang of it now. I've just finished my diploma (woooo me!) with a Pass (AARRRRGGGHHH!! All that hard work for a pass??? It's a ripoff!) and now I've got 2 years of university left because I stuffed up the project management exam (largely thanks to the aforementioned work at tafe). By the end of 2009, I should have a certificate 4 in network management, diploma in network engineering, a degree in information technology and a Cisco Certified Network Administrator qualification, there's no way in hell an employer can ignore THAT lineup of qualifications. Not if they want their building to stay in an un-'burned to the ground' state that is...

So far I've finished my certificate 4 with a Credit and expect the same or better with my diploma since I did about half our major project myself. Ahh the previous sentence was written in happier and more innocent times before I realised that the brain destroying tedium of the business modules made up more than 50% of the grade. Assuming I pass everything in the next year I'll probably end up having to get a crappy job doing network admin for brainless morons who keep forgetting their logon passwords and who I can't yell at because I'll be fired and be back on shitty unemployment again. What I'm hoping for though is to go to work for ASIO or ASIS(australia's intelligence agencies) because that sounds like a bloody interesting job and when someone asks me what I do for a living I can say "I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you" and have it ALMOST be true!

At the moment I'm trying to learn how to do math in my head. I've never been good at it, I can do very complicated mathematics if I can use a calculator but now at uni, we've been told we can't use calculators to do binary & hexadecimal conversion... it's just madness! Bloody CCNA...

Also I have a legitimate early version of the NXE. That's right, all your nerd-cred are belong to us!

I'm really good at Propose an edit

Photography, writing, destroying other peoples arguments with logic (especially religious doorknockers), taking the piss/bad taste jokes, cooking (particularly making awesome pizza and cheesecake), putting myself down too much (at least according to some of my friends).

A few quick & small photo samples (They're on my ISP's gallery but I don't know if there's a transfer limit)

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit

Either that I'm very tall or that I'm overweight (by ~40KGs but that's finally beginning to shrink!). I tend to walk with a scowl, I think it's because I hate the fact that walking is hard whilst being fat. Still got a big arse hill to walk up 4 times a week now, slowly but surely the weight is starting to come off, I can definitely see the difference now and it's feeling damn good.

When online, it's usually that I tend to be logical, eloquent and I'm told that I'm bloody funny.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit

I've decided to expand this & make it "My Favourite Stuff"

Books: Discworld series (Like anyone sane), TV/Movie reference books, HG Welles, philosophy, RPG books, shakespeare, anything else that conforms to my mood on the day.

TV: Dr Who, Firefly, Babylon 5, Star Trek, Band Of Brothers, Bottom, Red Dwarf, Pinky & The Brain, Monty Python's Flying Circus, The Avengers, Family Guy, American Dad, Futurama, South Park, The Chaser's War On Everything. You'll note that there's a fair bit of older stuff, that's largely thanks to the fact that modern TV has forgotten that shows are supposed to be entertaining & original rather than a series of carbon copy vehicles for crappy ads.

Hmm, I wonder what web media would count as because there's weebl & bob and pure pwnage as well.

Movies: Not really a movie guy, has to be unusual in some way or related to my TV interests to grab my attention. Examples are Serenity, Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow, Final Fantasy, Titan AE, Star Wars/Trek, 50s-60s Sci-fi B-Movies (I still think that The Day The Earth Stood Still is one of the best films ever made) and 60s-70s Horror films, particularly the ones by Hammer Horror (what can I say, I love red paint). Oh and James Bond films, love my bond films (Lazenby was the best, I don't care what anyone else says!). Oh yeah and the version of Othello starring Kenneth Branagh & Lawrence Fyshburne, that was awesome. The Second Coming with Christopher Eccleston & Lesley Sharp is excellent & well worth a watch.

Games: Braid! One of the single most creative games I've ever played, Ultima series, Knights Of The Old Republic series, Jade Empire, Mass Effect (basically everything Bioware touches seems to turn to gold), Fahrenheit, Halo series, The evil & corrupting Grand Theft Auto series, Silent Hunter III, Warhammer 40000 Dawn Of War. I also like non computer games, mostly RPGs like Vampire The Masqerade & the other world of darkness games but I never get to play them since noone seems to have the time anymore. I used to like the old Star Wars RPG as well but the new versions have gone all D&D & therefore lame.

Music: I was introduced to Black Sabbath when I was about 5 so it's basically my musical yardstick. Other than that I'm notably into Soilwork, In Flames, Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation, Cold Chisel, Australian Crawl, Classical (Though I'm far closer to a dilettante than an expert), GWAR, Cheesy 70s-80s pop/rock/funk, Evergrey, Motorhead, the first 2 albums by Garbage, Tori Amos, The Corrs (they all went downhill afterwards), seemingly random modern pop (EG: Natalie Imbruglia) where I like them even though I normally hate things that sound very similar, I've recently been getting into Grand Funk Railroad. I like jazz but I know nothing whatsoever about it, I just like most of what I've heard even though I couldn't name more than 1-2 artists. Also I dislike most rap (with the obvious exception of Sir Mix-A-Lot's "Baby Got Back", most hilarious rap song ever), I hate country & totally abhor dance, I don't mind if people are into it but if they try to make me listen to it, they'll be earmarked for the pogrom... As for comedy, you can't get any better than Lewis Black & Bill Hicks.

Food: Indian, Italian, Chinese, Thai, babies (err.. I mean Baby CORN, yes... corn)

The six things I could never do without Propose an edit

Stuff and/or things (it's so hard to decide, they're both so important to me), Digital Camera, Music, Computer/Xbox, Cooking... I'm sure there's something else, can't think of anything right now, probably my Uni course since without it I'll never get a job.

I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit

Philosophy, writing (more specifically why I can't anymore), new places to walk to in a quest to lose weight, new things to photograph, (there's only so many times one can take photos of the same basic thing before all the fun has been sucked out of it, I need a model). Loads of other things, my brain can either be glued to one subject for ages or be flitting about the place faster than light, depends on the day.

VBscript is another thing I've been thinking about, alternately impressed by all the things you can do with it if you have the patience and pissed off with it when I forget that things like variables are case sensitive and I spend days troubleshooting an error where I'd let go of shift a fraction too late

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit

I suppose saying that I have something of an eye fetish would count as private

I don't actively keep anything private, I just don't shout things out in a desperate quest for people to pay attention to me (I'm sure you've all seen the profiles/people I'm alluding to).

You should message me if Propose an edit

You're female (I've got loads of male friends, my contact list is something of a sausage-fest), you think you can put up with me given what you've read in my profile, if offending you might pose a challenge and if you don't mind that I'm not the chattiest person in the universe so it may take a while to get back to anyone who messages me (I'm also not the best driver of a conversation, in fact I had to cheat a little to get my licence). Oh and please no bloody leetspeak, shortening words to letters/numbers and a minimum amount of smilies, I detest them!
