My self-summary
You know, I don't feel comfortable saying nice things about myself. Not online anyway. I'm not the worst guy you'll ever meet. I like keeping fit; I do aikido and try to swim, but swimming and smoker lungs don't mix. I hate my hair, and I look worse without the beard, honest.
I'm really into body modification, on you or on me. I paint my nails. My dress sense is - contrary to everything I've ever been told - impeccable. I don't believe it's possible to do or like anything 'ironically', and I have the nerve to call myself a writer. I like my city so much I named myself after it. I go helpless and wriggly if you scratch the back of my neck.

I'd like to find real romance here, but I'd be happy with any of the intermediate stages. Been looking for love in - maybe not all - but some of the wrong places. Maybe this is the right one.
What I’m doing with my life
I've got a toilet-paper literature degree, and a rather more useful English language teaching one. Currently trying to decide which country to live and teach in next. Probably Japan. Maybe Spain.
I’m really good at
Innuendo. Cooking in vast, overblown, bombastic style and creating a resultantly huge mess all around me. Card games. Computer games. Words, or so I like to think - anything from creative swearing to writing fiction, which is how I want to earn my crust one day. Suppressing my pedantic instincts. Drinking too much beer. Reading really fast. Playing guitar and violin, badly. Overusing the :P smiley. Keeping my head when all about me are losing theirs and blaming it on the wasp or bee in the room.
Hell, I'm really good at absolutely everything*.

*not intended as a factual statement.
The first things people usually notice about me
I don't know, I'm pretty sure I've never first-noticed myself. If I did, it was far too long ago to remember.

I'm shorter than I think I am. I don't really notice this anymore though. I get a lot of comments on the ear piercings, and my tattoo. And I seem to be good at making people laugh.
Oh. My accent. I'm afraid I sound kinda English, despite being born-and-bred-Embra. Don't hold it against me, I'm still a real person :P.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: ...uh, pics of my bookshelves available on request, for brevity. I like hard sci-fi, history (esp. the Horrible kind), fantasy, some crime...some authors I can see from where I'm sitting are Terry Pratchett, Chris Brookmyre, Iain Banks (the 'M' is optional), China Mieville, Neil Gaiman, Greg Bear, Alan Moore, Brandon Sanderson...basically, though, I will read anything at least once. Even Twilight.
I usually have two or three books open at any one time, lying in different rooms, and I flit between them. I love comics almost as much as 'real' books. If not more.

Movies: okay, I'm going into this even less than books, or you'll still be reading tomorrow. All of them. No exceptions. No, really. I've never met a film which had nothing to offer me. If we watch a movie together, though, you'd better be prepared for some serious critic-talk afterwards.

Shows: actually this one's pretty simple. Joss Whedon. At least, according to my DVD collection. I also like Supernatural, Game of Thrones, Six Feet Under, Sopranos, True Blood, Doctor Who, Mongrels (you haven't heard of Mongrels? You should. Go. Now. I'll wait. It's BBC puppet comedy. Go.

...Good, isn't it? Anyway.), Leverage and Red Dwarf, but I don't often buy show DVDs.

Music: Metal, industrial, heavy metal, hard rock, dreadful 80s hair-metal, punk. Rap metal. I'm sensing a theme here. Some folk. And mashups. Dear sweet cheesy guitar-gods, but I love a good mashup. Perhaps that should go in 'most private thing I'm willing to admit'.

Food: I have to choose? :( Okay...I guess I'd pick Asian cooking above all else. The spicier the better.

Gonna put games in here too: Assassin's Creed. Bastion. Bioshock. Planescape Torment. Batman Arkham Whichever. Spec Ops: The Line (the best war film you'll ever play.) Worms. Darksiders. The Oddworld games (follow me!) Fable I-II-III. All the Lego games (the ones without voice acting are better).
The six things I could never do without
Coffee. Still haven't worked out how to get it intravenous, though.
Internet access.
Fiction, be it book, game, comic, music or film.
Cuddles and physical contact.
Epic sandwiches with at least five layers between the bread.
Sarcasm and bad jokes, whether giving or receiving.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Right now? What to say in these damned profile boxes. :P
On a typical Friday night I am
slightly surprised that it's not still Monday morning.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Not all my piercings are visible on first glance.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 21–34
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
you think I'm un-fucking-believably sexy and your life will be agony if you go another second without contacting me. :P

Or you just want to say hi, share some jokes, chat, whatever and aren't put off by the shirt in the photo (it's a bone of contention with almost everyone I know, but I just can't seem to stop wearing it.)
